About Institution: Agri Biotech Foundation (Formerly Andhra Pradesh-Netherlands Biotechnology Programme) is an autonomous interdisciplinary research institute engaged in promotion of agricultural biotechnologies and human resource development. The Foundation has been recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi. ABF works closely with India's premier research organizations like Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and also National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). It also has linkages with the international institutes like Centre for the Study of Sciences and Humanities of University of Bergen, Wageningen University etc. ABF focuses on agri technology development and technology transfer, public engagement on technology policy issues and HRD activities.
Aim of the programme: To develop trained manpower in the area of plant tissue culture and also equip them with advanced theoretical and practical knowledge.
Course content: Course will cover orientation lectures along with hands-on experience in a variety of plant tissue culture techniques like media preparation, sterilization, explants preparation, aseptic inoculation, culture multiplication, in vitro & in vivo rooting, potting mixture preparation and acclimatization of tissue culture plants etc. with special emphasis on micro-propagation of banana and teak.
Eligibility: Graduate and Post Graduate students in life sciences (Agriculture, Biotechnology, Botany, Genetics, Horticulture, and Seed Technology), lecturers of the universities and private colleges, research scholars, persons working in relevant industries and entrepreneurs.
No. of Intake: 5 to 10 members on first come first serve basis.
Course Fee: Rs.5,000/- (Rupees five thousand only) which includes tuition fee, training material, tea & snacks and working lunch. Accommodation can be arranged to outstation candidates upon request on payment basis.
