Educational and other qualifications required: A person to be qualified to be appointed as a Director should have a proven record of institutional leadership for 3 -5 Years.
A Master's Degree in Biotechnology or any branch of Life Science with at least 60% marks in related science or technology discipline (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed); and
A) An eminent scholar with a relevant Ph.D. degree, with a focus on research and/or teaching with a substantial international reputation in Biotechnology or in any branch of Life Science. The candidate should be actively engaged in relevant research on biotechnology as evident from published work of high quality, leading original research of an international quality, engaging with partners and collaborators beyond academia, with minimum 40 papers out of which 15 must be as corresponding/co-corresponding or first author in highly rated journals.
Industry experience and engagement, entrepreneurship and fostering innovation will be a key advantage.
i) A minimum of ten years of Post-Ph.D teaching experience in university/college as Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor/Professor, or Post-Ph.D research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates; and
ii) Evidence of securing substantial competitive / peer reviewed funding with a focus on industry and international partnerships. He/she should have
obtained a cumulative research funding of about Rs. 5 crores.
Or
B) An outstanding research professional with approximately 15 years of Post-Ph.D Industrial Research experience, having a Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology and in any branch of Life Science as evident from research publications the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, with significant granted patent and/or product. Preferably having an experience of guiding or co-guiding Ph.D students.
