National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar, has been setup at Jatni
in Khurda District of Odisha by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India as a
unique institution of its kind pursuing undergraduate and post-graduate education in sciences
combined with frontline research. The campus of NISER at Jatni is spread over a sprawling 300 acres
of land on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. It is a fully residential campus with all modern living
amenities including health centre, banking facilities etc.

Post Code-03: Scientific Assistant-C (Animal House)
Essential Qualifications: BSc in Life Sciences/Zoology/Biotechnology/Animal Sciences with
minimum 60% marks in BSc.
Essential Experience:
4 (four) years of relevant experience in handling and management of Breeding/experimentation/
maintenance of laboratory animals after obtaining requisite qualification.
Age: Minimum 18 but not more than 37 years as on 29.05.2023 for SC category i.e. born on or after
30.05.1986 (both days inclusive).

Job Profile: Oversee the routine animal husbandry and welfare activities of animal care
takers/support staff and students. Follow and implement all standard operating procedures, welfare
and biosafety guidelines. Assist Veterinarian in providing orientation and training of new
students/animal users/care taker staff in proper use of animal facility, humane handling of animals,
implement the SOPs and assist on-going research work. Training and assisting the users in surgical
procedures, anaesthesia, analgesia, breeding and maintenance of animal colonies; weaning, tail
biopsies for genotyping, receiving/providing live animal for research, along with quarantine procedures
and euthanasia etc. Assist Veterinarian in the process of import of live laboratory animals, animal
health monitoring programs etc. Record keeping as per CPCSEA guidelines.
Post Code-05: Scientific Assistant-C (Biology)
Essential Qualifications: BSc with Biology as major subject with minimum 60% marks in B.Sc.
Essential Experience: - 04 years of experience in operating equipment related to the genomics and
proteomics in a biological laboratory after obtaining requisite qualification.
Age: Minimum 18 but not more than 32 years as on 29.05.2023 for EWS category i.e. born on or after
30.05.1991 (both days inclusive).
Job Profile:
The candidate will be involved in all aspects of maintenance and usage of the instrument, provide day
to day assistance to the students in operating the instruments. Responsibilities include training new
users such as students, fellows and refreshers for internal and external users as and when required
and ensuring faultless operation of the DNA sequences, mass-spectrometer, protein purification,
protein characterization. Responsible for regular preventive maintenance, log-book entries, and
maintenance of the inventory such as consumables etc.

Essential Qualifications: BSc with Biology as major subject with minimum 60% marks in B.Sc.
Essential Experience: -
04 years of experience in operating microscopes catering to different applications such as wide-field,
confocal, spinning disc, cryo-EM etc. in a biological laboratory after obtaining requisite qualification.
Age: Minimum 18 but not more than 42 years for Gen-PwD category, 45 years for OBC-PwD category
and 47 years for SC-PwD/ST-PwD category as on 29.05.2023 i.e. born on or after 30.05.1981 for GenPwD category, 30.05.1978 for OBC-PwD category and 30.05.1976 for SC-PwD/ST-PwD category (both
days inclusive).
