Advertisement for the Post of Junior Research Fellow (On Contract) Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the post of Junior Research Fellow (on contract) in Ad-Hoc research project entitled “Investigating Aetiology of Early Age Onset Colorectal Cancers (EOCRC) using MultiOmics technology: A case and control study” sanction letter no. No.5/13/32/2022/NCD-llI dated 12/03/2023 sponsored by ICMR, GOI, New Delhi. The duly completed application on prescribed format along with copies of supporting documents must reach to: Office of the Dean (Research & Consultancy), Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad 211004 on or before 24/05/2023. 

The envelope should be superscribed as “Application for the post of Junior Research Fellow (on contract) in ICMR Project: Adv. No- 01/2023/Project JRF” The duly completed application ( (soft copy) on prescribed format along with scanned copies of supporting documents must reach to email id: sameers@mnnit.ac.in (email id of Dr Sameer Srivastava, Department of Biotechnology) with the subject of the email as "Application for JRF (on contract) in ICMR Project: Adv. No01/2023/Project JRF ”, before 24/05/2023, 5.00 PM (IST). 

Description and Objectives of the Project: We will investigate the genetic and epigenetic biomarkers of EOCRCs using NGS based methods methods. RNA-Seq and Methylome seq. Further, validation of genes and pathways identified by our integrated in silico approach will be performed to establish association of identified genes with clinicopathological features of collected tumor samples to explore their potential as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. This study will provide information about the pathways which are perturbed in EOCRCs sample and shall shed some light on EOCRCs etiology. The Project JRF is expected to have previous experience in bioinformatics, preferably in NGS data analysis. The position is purely temporary and will be governed by the funding agency rules & service conditions of the Office of the Dean (Research & Consultancy), MNNIT Allahabad. 

Essential Qualifications : M.Tech./M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Human Genetics, Molecular Biology or any relevant discipline suitable to the work proposed in the project. NET and/or GATE qualified 

Desirable Experience: 75% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.Sc. or 65% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.Tech. One year research experience in related area. 

Fellowship : Rs. 31,000.00 per month + HRA (16%) 

Other Benefits: Accommodation may be available as per the availability and the Institute norms. Candidate selected for the JRF may register for Ph.D. if eligibility conditions as set by institute is met by him/her. Facility of yearly leave, carryover leave, medical benefits etc. may be available as per applicable rules of the project staff 

Age Limit : 28 years on the last date of application (The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH and women candidates) Tenure of Appointment : Appointment will be made on contract basis for a period of one year initially, which may be extended depending on the performance evaluation on yearly basis till the end of project.
