About ICMR
NICPR
ICMR-National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research (NICPR) was established in 1979 as a Cytology
Research Centre (CRC), and is the country’s premier institute to carry out research in cancer prevention. The
thrust areas of research include uterine cervix, breast and oral cancers, and Tobacco control research. ICMRNICPR labs are equipped with state-of-art equipment for experiments on cancer biology, viral diagnosis &
genome sequencing. NGS is being used to identify genomic variants, phylogenetic analyses, mutations
associated with Vaccine breakthrough/super spreader events, etc.
About the Course
The workshop aims at imparting hands-on training on:
A. RNA extraction from clinical samples, quality & integrity assessment of the RNA
B. cDNA synthesis from RNA template
C. Library preparation
D. Library amplification, purification & quantification
E. Library enrichment and sequencing
F. NGS data analysis
G.Variant/Lineage analysis & Genetic relatedness
Who can Apply
Registered PhD Students/Post-Doctoral/MBBS/MD/BDS/MDS/AYUSH/Project fellows (MSc completed)
Faculty/Scientist of Medical colleges, Colleges/University/Model Rural Health Research Units (MRHRUs),
Multidisciplinary Research Units(MRUs).

➢ A maximum of twenty participants will be enrolled.
➢ Candidates will be selected by a committee based on pre-specified criteria.
➢ Selected candidates will be informed through email by 10th May and payment of Rs. 2500/- per participant
should be completed by May 17, 2023
➢ Participants should make their own arrangements for boarding/lodging and travel.
