Dr. Ashwani Kumar
Molecular Mycobacteriology Laboratory
CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology
Chandigarh

Expertise: Tuberculosis pathogenesis and infectious diseases.

Profile: My laboratory focuses at understanding the mechanisms used by Mycobacterium to display phenotypic drug resistance. Towards this, we try to understand the physiology in biofilm resident bacteria and during the non-replicating persistence. More specifically, we are interested in understanding the nature of extracellular polysaccharides of mycobacterial biofilms and the role of SenX-RegX3 two component system in regulation of virulence and mycobacterial replication. We are also developing tools for measurement of the metabolic and redox state of the mycobacteria during infection. Another interest of the laboratory is to understand the contribution of the lung microbiome in the tuberculosis pathogenesis.

Dr. Maddika Subba Reddy
Group Head, Laboratory of Cell Death & Cell Survival (LCDCS)
Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics [CDFD]
Hyderabad – 500 039

Dr. Maddika Subba Reddy obtained his PhD in the field of Cell Biology from University of Manitoba, Canada. He subsequently moved to Yale University, USA for his post-doctoral work in the laboratory of Prof. Junjie Chen. He moved back to India in 2009 to start his own group at the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD). Currently at CDFD, his lab is interested in deciphering the molecular mechanisms of various cellular signaling pathways and their contribution to human diseases such as cancer. In particular, his research is focused on exploring the functional protein interaction networks controlled by phosphatase and ubiquitin systems.
