One Research Associate (RA) and one Technical Assistant (TA) position in the
Metabolic Engineering Group and one Research Associate position in the Yeast
Biofuel Group are immediately available at ICGEB New Delhi under the DBT supported project, “hydrocarbons from synthetic microbes and scale-up processing”.
These positions are initially available for one year, with further extensions based on
the candidate's performance up to 3 years or availability of funds.
Job description: The selected candidate will perform metabolic engineering of algae
and yeast using synthetic biology to express heterologous genes, followed by process
development for hydrocarbon production using engineered/synthetic microbes.
A
candidate with prior research experience in molecular biology, and genetic
engineering, expert in scientific writing skills and interpretation of results, and willing
to explore new tools for implementing the proposed objectives is desirable.
RA Eligibility for Metabolic Engineering Group: PhD in Life
Sciences/Biotechnology with prior experience in wet lab and molecular biology using
algae. In-silico designing of vectors, DNA cloning, Genetic transformation of
microorganisms, PCR, RT-PCR, ddPCR, GC-MS, Southern blot analysis, DNA
sequencing, outdoor cultivation of algae in photobioreactors, and in-vitro maintenance
of transgenic algal cultures, etc.
TA Eligibility for Metabolic Engineering Group: BSc with 3 years of research
experience or MSc/MTech in Life Sciences/Biotechnology.
RA Eligibility for Yeast Biofuel Group: Ph.D. in any discipline, including
Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences or another related field with indepth experience in advanced molecular biology and bioinformatics.
