The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) is an autonomous institution of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry
of Science & Technology, Government of India, for a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a
national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc. The Centre is located in the midst of academically enriched
environment of Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus, Pune. NCCS invites applications for following posts on
various extramural projects purely on temporary basis.

Name of the Project: Characterization of Pseudogene-like CTs in Ovarian Cancer.

Essential Qualification &
Experience:
Ph. D/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching and design and
development experience after MVSc/M.Pharm/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in
Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
Desirable Experience:
Experience in molecular biology (PCR, Cloning, protein expression, western blotting,
Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridisation, Immuno-precipitation, cell fractionation), bioinformatics
and/or RNA biology (In-vitro transcription/translation, RNA FISH, RNA pull down).

Desirable Experience:
Candidate should have some experience with the following techniques, as evidenced by at least one
first author publication in a peer-reviewed national and international journal.
✓ Cell culture handling and subcellular fractionation of organelles
✓ HPLC, protein purification using Affinity & gel-exclusion chromatography
✓ Antibody generation in Rabbit and Isolation & purification of IgG
✓ In-vivo and In-vitro protein-protein interaction and western blotting
✓ Confocal microscopy, Gene cloning and RT-PCR

Desirable Experience:
Due to timely execution of project in the given period, the preference will be given to the candidate
have studied the immunology, and have experience in cell culture, able to handle the small laboratory
animals such as mice, experience in performing immunological experiments such as ELISA, flow
cytometry and multicolor microscopy.

Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or
Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Experience:
Candidate having some experience in some of these techniques (cloning, protein expression and
purification, immunoprecipitation, live imaging, handling cell cultures for S2/Sf9 and mammalian cells,
fly genetics) will be preferred. The candidate needs to be confident about working independently, and
have good writing and communication skills and habit of following scientific literature. It is important
to be interested in phase separation of proteins in transcription regulation and is expected to read about
it. Due to the nature of this project the candidate most importantly needs to commit for the entire
duration of the project.
