NIO Goa Marine Biology/Biotech Internship/Training Program


ADVERTISEMENT OF INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (SERB-SRG SSR)

An application is invited for short-term (2 months) research internship/training under the SERB – SRG project (SRG/2022/001904) titled “"Seedling production and growth optimisation of nutritionally important edible seaweeds for land-based cultivation"". 

Objective: SERB has adopted Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR) Policy to imbibe a culture of social commitment among SERB Grantees. The policy intends to effectively utilize scientific infrastructure and expertise of SERB grantees to benefit other S&T stakeholders especially the less-endowed researchers and the society. This program would facilitate the young talents to choose a career path in Science and Technology. 

Eligibility: Candidates currently pursing M.Sc. (course completion must be after April 2024) in Marine Biology/Biotechnology or equivalent from University/Institution/College and having a strong orientation towards seaweed (macroalgae) research may apply. 

Duration: 2 months (tentatively between Jan 2024 to March 2024) 

Nature of support: Stipend will be paid at the rates Rs.5000/- per month. The student may be provided accommodation on payment basis subject to availability. In case of unavailability of accommodation, the student will have to arrange for their accommodation and meet all other living expenses on their own.

Note: 

(i) Eligible candidates will be shortlisted for the interview after scrutinizing the received applications. 
(ii) The applicants should produce a letter of authentication from their Supervisor / Head of the Department / Head of the Institute indicating their association with the Institute and “No Objection Certificate (NOC)” for allowing their student to undergo internship, if selected. 
(iii) The supervisor to whom the interns are attached would be assigning them tasks / assignments, on which, the intern should work and prepare a report to be submitted. 
(iv) A certificate regarding successful completion of internship shall be issued to the intern by the supervisor and head of the institute/concern department on satisfactory completion of the internship and on submission of the assignment report. Interns not completing the requisite period will not be issued any certificate.
