Role Purpose We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Microbiologist to ensure the microbiological quality and safety of milk and milk products. The role involves conducting microbial analysis, maintaining compliance with food safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement within the QA/QC function.
Key Responsibilities
1. Microbial Testing Conduct microbial testing of incoming raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. Perform microbiological analysis of water, environment, pipelines, equipment, and personnel.
2. Preparation & Laboratory Management Prepare microbiological media, cultures, reagents, and chemicals. Issue and manage materials required for testing. Maintain stock records of chemicals, glassware, and laboratory equipment.
3. Compliance & Quality Assurance Approve or hold in-process and finished products based on test results. Authorize release/hold status of equipment or processes post testing. Ensure compliance with ISO, HACCP, and food safety standards. Monitor HACCP CCPs/OPRPs and report deviations with improvement suggestions. Verify cleaning and sanitation of all process equipment and areas to prevent contamination. Coordinate pest control activities. Support the implementation of TQM and newly introduced quality systems.
4. Documentation & Record Keeping Maintain accurate and complete microbiology-related documentation. Ensure all tests and inspections are performed as per SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
5. Coordination & Communication Coordinate with production, QC, maintenance, procurement, and HR teams for timely completion of activities. Arrange and track medical testing of plant personnel. Work effectively with suppliers, service providers, regulatory bodies, and customers as required. Complete tasks assigned by seniors in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications
Essential: M.Sc./B.Sc. in Microbiology or Biotechnology Experience Essential: Minimum 6 months of experience in microbial testing of milk & milk products
Preferred:
Experience within dairy/food processing industries
Strong understanding of microbiology lab techniques and media preparation
Working knowledge of ISO/HACCP standards
Familiarity with food safety and regulatory requirements
