Advertisement for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at
Department of Biological Sciences, IISER Kolkata
Applications are invited from enthusiastic and eligible candidates for the position of Junior Research
Fellow (JRF) in a SERB-funded research project titled “Unraveling the Regulatory Mechanism of
FNBP4-Mediated FMN1 Regulation and Actin Cytoskeleton Remodeling during Cell Migration” at
the Lab of Dr Sankar Maiti, DBS, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata
Name of position: Junior Research Fellow (01 position)
PI: Dr. Sankar Maiti
Fellowship: Rs. 37,000/- + HRA@24% (for 1st and 2nd year)
The initial appointment will be for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension based on the
candidate's performance. The position may be terminated by PI with one month notice if the candidate
does not show satisfactory performance.
Essential Qualifications:
A Master's degree or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks in relevant fields, such as Life
Sciences, or related disciplines including Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology,
Microbiology, or Zoology.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
Ability to design and conduct complex experiments.
Strong problem-solving skills and dedication to research.
Hands-on experience in protein purification, actin purification and fluorophore labelling, actin
reconstitution assays, fluorescence spectroscopy, western blotting, mammalian cell culture is
highly preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates who have qualified NET-JRF/ ICMR/ BET/ GATE/
NET-LS, or equivalent exams.
