Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the following purely temporary post of project staff for the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS, MoEF&CC, GOI) funded project “Assessment of Floristic Diversity in the Alpine High Altitude Wetland Complexes of Sikkim”. Interested candidates (Indian National Only) having ability to work in alpine high Himalayan tough terrain may send their complete CV along with certificates of educational qualifications, all experience certificates and list of publications on or before 25.03.2026 to gangtokbsishrc@gmail.com or by hand to the office. 

The project is for 3 years and co-terminus with the termination of the project. Candidates may appear for the interview both physically or by virtual mode. Shortlisted candidates will be intimated in advance. 

1. RA-III (1 no.) (Subject Expert) 

Essential Qualification
a. Ph.D in Plant Taxonomy 
b. 5 years exp. working with flora in Sikkim Alpine region (Identification & documentation) evidence with publications. 
c. At least 3 publications in SCI journals. 

Desirable Qualification 

10 years’ field experience working with Flora of Sikkim Himalaya evidence with publications. 

Rs. 67,000/- + 10% HRA 

2. Junior Project Fellow (JPF) (2 nos.) 

Essential Qualification
M.Sc. Botany: Plant Taxonomy/ Ecology 

Desirable Qualification 
Experience in field data collection on Plant Taxonomy/ Ecology 

Rs. 24,000/- + 10% HRA 

3. Field Assistant (2 nos.) 

B.Sc. in Botany/ Life Sciences 

Experience in Field Work in Sikkim Himalaya. 
Knowledge of plant collection, herbarium preparation & data compilation 

Rs. 20,000/- +10% HRA 

Age, Qualifications, experience and other requirements for any post may be relaxed as per govt. regulations/ at the discretion of the Institute/as per project requirement, also age relaxation may be applicable to suitable candidates having work experience as per project requirement for successful execution. The Institute reserves the right to decrease the number of positions, to fill up or not to fill up any or all the posts or to shortlist and select the candidates in any suitable position depending upon the qualification and experience required for the said post. In case of any dispute/ambiguity that may occur in the process of selection, the decision of the Institute in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, mode of selection will be final. Any legal dispute arising between the parties shall be resolved within Gangtok jurisdiction only.
