Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Assistant (JRA) in a research project entitled “Development of Indigenous Cyanobacterial-Microalgal Consortia for Sustainable Rice Growth” (BHU Code No.: P-26/0157) funded by Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh (CSTUP) (Sanction order no.: CST/Env./D-1244 dated 23/08/2025; Project ID: 5835). The selected candidate will join and work in the “Cyanobacterial Lab” at the Department of Botany, MMV, BHU.
The duly completed applications in the prescribed format (Annexure-1) along with copies of the supporting documents must reach to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project Dr. Neelam Atri, Professor, Department of Botany, MMV, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221005, Uttar Pradesh, within 21 days of publication of this advertisement. The application containing envelope should be superscribed as “Application for the post of JRA for the CSTUP project.” A soft copy of the duly filled and signed application form along with supporting documents as a single PDF may be also sent to neelam1409@bhu.ac.in by e-mail with the same subject.

Project Duration: Three (03) years (co-terminus with the project)
Age Limit: 28 years as of 01.04.2025 (age relaxation as per GoI rules for reserved category candidates)
Fellowship/monthly compensation: Rs 25000/- month (consolidated) for first two years (as JRA) and Rs 28000/ month (consolidated) for the third year as Senior Research Assistant (SRA).
Essential Qualifications: The candidate should hold any of the following degree: Master’s in Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Bioscience, Biochemistry environmental sciences or any other relevant allied subject with 1st division in Graduate and Post Graduate examinations. Candidates with higher qualifications may also apply.
Desirable Skills: Experience in microbiology, algal biology, rice plant research and maintenance will be given preference.
