Applications are invited for five (05) temporary positions i.e. of Junior Research Fellow (02) and Field Assistant (03), for
the MoEF&CC sponsored research project entitled “Reassessment, Revival, and Recognition of Bio-Resources,
Handlooms, and Handicrafts of Indigenous Tribes of Manipur for Sustainable Livelihood” under the Principal Investigator
Prof. Ashalata Devi, Department of Environmental Science, Tezpur University.
The project aims to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage related to crafts of Manipur through skill development
and sustainable livelihood improvement. The work will focus on various aspects of the project, including inventorying
bioresources, documenting and reviving indigenous handloom and handicrafts, assessing climate change impacts on
bioresource utilization, and developing skill modules for youth, women, and artisan groups to revitalize traditional crafts
and enhance product quality and design. The project also focuses on creating a community knowledge repository and
digital archive on bioresources, handlooms, and handicrafts, ensuring the long-term sustainability of Manipur’s unique
heritage while preserving knowledge and practices.
We are looking for individuals with a strong background in interdisciplinary conservation biology or related fields,
excellent field skills (particularly in the hilly regions of Manipur), and a deep commitment to documentation and
conservation. Any candidate interested in applying for the following post should recognize that this project is more than

it and promoting community recognition. Candidates from Manipur will be given preference.
Position: Junior Research Fellow (02 post)
Essential Qualifications: The applicant should have M.Sc. with a minimum of 55 % marks or equivalent CGPA in
Environmental Science/Anthropology/Forestry/other relevant Biological Sciences/ Applied Sciences with NET-JRF/NETLS/GATE.
Desirable: Experience in survey techniques and data collection on bioresources utilization in traditional crafts of
indigenous communities, and willing to undertake extensive fieldwork in different ethnic forest villages of Manipur.
Experience of handling in remote sensing & GIS software, data analysis and interpretation. Energetic, good analytical skills
and capable of working both independently and as part of a team will be preferred considering the job requirement.
Emolument: 37,000 (Rupees thirty seven thousand) only per month plus 10% HRA as admissible, if no accommodation
is provided by the Institute.
Note: The category of Junior Project Fellow is applicable only when NET/GATE qualified candidates are not available or
not found suitable for the project sponsored by the Ministry. In that case, the position of Junior Project Fellow may be
considered in place of Junior Research Fellow with less monthly emolument as per rules.
Position: Field Assistant (03 post)
Essential Qualifications: The applicant should have minimum qualification of B.Sc./Diplomas in relevant discipline of
Biological Sciences/ Applied Sciences.
Desirable: Experience in community-based fieldwork; knowledge of local languages and cultures; congenial in
extensive field survey, working experience in different ethnic forest villages of Manipur, crafts specimen collection,
storing, processing and preservation of specimens. Basic computation skill like, MS office, data compilation, file handling
and office management will be given additional preference
Emolument: 20,000 (Rupees twenty thousand) only per month.
Age: Candidate shall not be more than 28 years of age on the stipulated last date of receiving of applications in response to
advertisement. Upper age limit may be relaxed as per Government of India rules.
Duration: Appointment will be initially for a period of one (01) year or until further order, whichever is earlier and may be
extended further depending upon satisfactory performance of the incumbent and co-terminus with the project.
Maximum
duration is three (03) years.
