Interview for Senior Research Fellow/Young Professional II
Interviews are scheduled to be held at ICAR–Central Marine Fisheries Research
Institute (CMFRI) for the recruitment of Young Professional II, under the MOES funded
Project under DOM Vertical III” Automated Identification of Marine Species with
Artificial Neural Networks to Enhance the Exploration and Sustainable Utilization
of Deep-sea Marine Fishes.”

Essential qualifications
For Senior Research Fellow:
Master’s degree with at least 60% marks in Marine
Science/Zoology/Mariculture/Fisheries Science/ Life Sciences/
Zoology/Marine Biology. He/She should have UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET
qualifications.
OR
Candidates with 3 years Bachelor’s + 2 years Master’s degree in
the above and should have UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET qualifications
and 2 years of research experience as evidenced from
Fellowship/Associateship/Training/other engagements.
For Young Professional II:
Postgraduate in Marine Science/Zoology/Mariculture/Fisheries
Science/ Life Sciences/Oceanography/Zoology/Marine Biology or
equivalent in relevant field.
Desirable Experiences Working experience in:
Marine fishery identification; Database management systems;
Those with CSIR/UGC/any fellowship will be given preference.
Skill in swimming
Conditions Candidate should be ready to work on board vessels for
multiday sampling
Nature and duration of
the post
Purely on contract basis for a period of one year from the date of
joining or till the completion of the project whichever is earlier.
Age limit The minimum age is 21 years, and maximum age is 45 years
(with relaxation as per rules) as on the date of the interview.
Emoluments For Senior Research Fellow:
₹37,000/- per month + HRA as applicable (for the 1st and 2nd
year), ₹42,000/- per month + HRA as applicable (for the 3rd
year)
For Young Professional II:
₹42,000/- per month
(Consolidated Emoluments as per revised ICAR guidelines)
Place of work ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi but may have to move based on the need of
the Project
*Only one position will be filled under this advertisement, either as Senior Research Fellow
(SRF) or Young Professional–II (YP-II), depending on the qualifications and suitability of the
candidates.
Terms and Conditions:
1. All the original certificates from matriculation onwards must be sent in
scanned form on or before 5 August 2026. Without these certificates,
applicants would not be allowed to appear for interview. Candidates should
produce one valid ID proof at the time of interview.
2. Concealing of facts or canvassing in any form shall lead to disqualification
or termination.
3. The competent authority has the right to terminate without assigning any
reason at any time.
4. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing for the interview.
5. If any of his/her near or distant relative is an employee of the ICAR-CMFRI,
the candidate intending to attend the interview has to declare his/her name,
designation, nature of duties, relationship in writing as detailed in
ANNEXURE-II, and communicate to the undersigned on or before 5 August
2026
6. The total number of vacancies may vary depending on other project
requirements, if any, on the date of interview.
7. Candidates should produce the No Objection Certificate from their present
employer, if any.
8. Decision of Director, ICAR-CMFRI will be final and binding in all respects.
9. Candidates having marks issued in the form of CGPA/OGPA should produce
approved conversion table/formula at the time of reporting for interview,
otherwise their candidature will not be considered.
10. The selected candidates shall not claim for any regular appointments at this
institute as the above positions are purely contractual, non-regular, time
bound and are co-terminus with the project.
