1. Project Title: CONSERVATION OF THE NICOBAR MEGAPODE [PI - Dr. Manchi Shirish S.] 

1(a). SENIOR PROJECT ASSOCIATE 

• No. of Positions: ONE (1) 

• Duration: One year (likely to be extended) 

• EssentialQualifications: 

i) Post-Graduate degree (M.Sc.) or its equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks in life sciences or environmental sciences (Zoology/ Wildlife Biology/ Wildlife Science/ Forestry/ Conservation Biology/ Biodiversity Studies/ Ecological Sciences/ Environmental Studies or any other allied disciplines) from a recognized university, AND 

ii) Four years of post-PG research experience in relevant scientific projects and activities; OR 

Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in any allied disciplines of life sciences or environmental sciences from a recognized university. 

• Desirable Qualifications: 

i) Considerable experience in bird research and conservation; 

ii) skill in bird surveys and field ecology methods (to study breeding, foraging, and behavioural ecology of the species); 

iii) willingness to reside in remote locations with challenging conditions, and travel extensively by both road and sea between the islands; 

iv) proficiency in field techniques for bird capture, handling and collection of biological samples for disease screening; 

v) familiarity with data analysis, including R programming and GIS tools; and 

vi) proficiency in English and Hindi (speaking, reading, and writing).

• Monthly Emoluments: Rs.57,000 + HRA. 

• Description of Work: Selected person will be expected 

i) to coordinate project activities and implement the project objectives on the ground in remote areas of Andaman and Nicobar Islands; 

ii) to help the junior project staff to achieve their project goals; 

iii) to collate and analyze field data on Nicobar Megapode and draft project reports; 

iv) to work closely with the forest department and local communities to develop sustainable conservation/management plan; and 

v) to assist the Project Investigator in achieving project goals and other institutional activities. 

1(b). PROJECT ASSOCIATE-I

• Duration: One year (likely to be extended)

i) to conduct species population surveys and ecological studies in remote areas of Andaman and Nicobar Islands with limited resources and challenging field conditions; 

ii) to collect and analyze field data and contribute to preparation of reports; 

iii) to assist with conducting social surveys among local communities to understand their views on species conservation; 

iv) to work closely with the forest department and local communities to develop sustainable conservation/management plan; and 

v) to assist the Project Investigator and senior project staff in achieving project goals and other institutional activities. 

2. Project Title: COMPREHENSIVE CONSERVATION PLAN FOR COCONUT CRAB Birgus latro IN THE NICOBAR ARCHIPELAGO [PI - Dr. P. Pramod] 

2(a). PROJECT ASSOCIATE-I 

• No. of Positions: ONE (1) 

• Duration: One year (likely to be extended) 

• EssentialQualifications: i) Post-Graduate degree (M.Sc.) or its equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks in life sciences or environmental sciences (Zoology/ Wildlife Biology/ Wildlife Science/ Forestry/ Conservation Biology/ Biodiversity Studies/ Ecological Sciences/ Environmental Studies or any allied disciplines) from a recognized university. 

• Desirable Qualifications: 

i) Keen interest in studying wildlife ecology and conservation; 

ii) familiarity with studies on invertebrates and their field identification; 

iii) willingness to reside in remote locations with challenging conditions, and travel extensively by both road and sea between the islands;

v) to assist the Project Investigator and senior project staff in achieving project goals and other institutional activities. 

3. Project Title: BIRD HAZARD RISK ASSESSMENT STUDY FOR THE PROPOSED INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, GREAT NICOBAR ISLAND [PI - Dr. P. Pramod] 

3(a). SENIOR PROJECT ASSOCIATE 

• No. of Positions: ONE (1) 

• Duration: One year (likely to be extended) 

• EssentialQualifications: 

i) Post-Graduate degree (M.Sc.) or its equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks in life sciences or environmental sciences (Zoology/ Wildlife Biology/ Wildlife Science/ Forestry/ Conservation Biology/ Biodiversity Studies/ Ecological Sciences/ Environmental Studies or any other allied disciplines) from a recognized university, AND 

ii) Four years of post-PG research experience in relevant scientific 4 projects and activities; OR Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in any allied disciplines of life sciences or environmental sciences from a recognized university.

i) Research experience in studying avian ecology and conservation, with good track record of scientific publications in reputed journals; 

ii) familiarity with studies on mitigation of bird-hit hazards to aircraft; 

iii) willingness to reside in remote locations with challenging conditions, and travel extensively by both road and sea between the islands; 

iv) skill in collection of bird-hit samples and carrying out DNA-based molecular analyses; 

v) competence in statistical analysis of data and report writing; and 

vi) proficiency in English and Hindi, and excellent interpersonal skill.

5. Project Title: COMPREHENSIVE CONSERVATION PLAN FOR NICOBAR LONG-TAILED MACAQUE Macaca fascicularis umbrosus [PI - Dr. H.N. Kumara]

6. Project Title: EFFECT OF BEACH TOURISM ON THE ECOLOGY OF MIGRATORY COASTAL BIRDS ALONG THE TAMIL NADU COAST AND DEVELOP STRATEGIES FOR SUSTAINABLE NATURE-BASED TOURISM IN CRITICAL ZONES [PI - Dr. S. Babu] 

6(a). PROJECT ASSOCIATE-I

7. Project Title: MITIGATION OF BIRD/WILDLIFE HAZARDS TO AIRCRAFT IN SELECT CIVIL AIRPORTS OF INDIA [PI - Dr. P. Pramod] 

7(a). PROJECT ASSOCIATE-II

• Duration: One year (likely to be extended) 

• Essential Qualifications: 

i) Post-graduate degree (M.Sc.) with a minimum of 55% marks in life sciences or environmental sciences (Zoology/Wildlife Biology/Wildlife Science/ Agricultural sciences/Conservation Biology/Biodiversity Studies/Forestry/Ecological Sciences/Environmental Studies or any other allied disciplines) from a recognized university; AND

ii) to interact with airport authorities and field staff; and

iii) to assist the Project Investigator and senior project staff in data analysis, report writing, and other institutional activities. 

7(b). PROJECT ASSOCIATE-I 

• No. of Positions: FOUR (4) 

• Duration: One year (likely to be extended) 

• Essential Qualifications: Post-graduate degree (M.Sc.) with a minimum of 55% marks in life sciences or environmental sciences (Zoology/Wildlife Biology/Wildlife Science/ Agricultural sciences/Conservation Biology/Biodiversity Studies/Forestry/Ecological Sciences/Environmental Studies or any other allied disciplines) from a recognized university. 

• Desirable Qualifications:

i) Experience in bird/wildlife hazard mitigation research work in airfields; 

ii) familiarity with field identification of fauna and flora; 

iii) familiarity with basic data analysis and GIS tools 

iv) excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and 

v) proficiency in English and Hindi. 

• Upper Age Limit as on 24-07-2026: 35 years 

• Monthly Emoluments: Rs.37,000 + HRA for CSIR-UGC NET (Lectureship)/GATE qualified candidates and Rs. 30,000 + HRA for non-NET/GATE qualified candidates. 

• Description of Work: Selected person will be expected
