Applications are invited from highly motivated and bright candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the following research project funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India, in the Department of Botany, SRM University Sikkim, Sikkim, India.
Project Details:
Title of the Project: "Development of Novel Methodology for the Production of Sikkim Ethnic Millet Beverage with Therapeutic Benefits for High Altitude Sickness" Project File No. BT/PR51825/NER/95/2136/2024.
Sponsored Agency: Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India, New Delhi.
Number of Position(s): 1.
Post Duration: Initially for one year, extendable up to three years based on performance and availability of funds, or co-terminus with the project.
Principal Investigator: Dr. Biswajit Bose, Department of Botany, SRM University Sikkim, Sikkim, India.
Co-Principal Investigators: Dr. Anand Sharma, Department of Botany, Asansol Girl’s College, Asansol, West Bengal, India. Dr. Kinkar Mandal, School of Public Health, SRM University Sikkim, Sikkim, India.
Essential Qualification
M.Sc. with minimum 55% marks or equivalent according to grade point average in Botany/Biotechnology/Microbiology/Food Technology/Biochemistry/Life Sciences.
Desirable Qualification
Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Microbiology, Fermentation, Cell culture, and animal studies. Candidates having hands-on experience in microbial isolation and characterization, microbial consortia development, molecular biology techniques, metagenomics, bioinformatics, biochemical, and analytical techniques will be preferred.
Fellowship:
i) Rs. 37,000.00/- per month for JRF + 10% HRA for candidates who are selected through National Eligibility Tests - CSIR-UGC NET, including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE or selected through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
ii) Rs. 25,000.00/- per month + 10% HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above as per DBT norms.
