INVITATION FOR APPLICATIONS FOR FACULTY POSITIONS
for the evaluation period July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026
The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) is looking for bright young scientists for Faculty
positions in the Institute at the level of Professor OR Associate Professor OR Reader in the
disciplines of (1) Mathematics, (2) Physical Sciences, (3) Chemical Sciences, (4) Biology and Life
Sciences, (5) Computer Science; Learning, Information, and Data Science and (6) Science
Education Research.
Candidates in each one of the above areas must have a Ph.D. from a recognised institution and
an outstanding research career as per international standards.
Candidates with an excellent academic record, a Ph. D. in any sub-area of the 6 above-mentioned
areas and appropriate postdoctoral research experience, whose research work is novel and
impactful, are encouraged to apply for tenure-track academic positions at the level of Reader.
Outstanding candidates with fresh Ph.D.’s may also apply. Applicants with proven research
leadership and higher experience would be considered for tenured academic positions at the
level of Associate Professor or Professor, as appropriate.
A successful candidate is expected to lead a vibrant research programme and to also take part in
training students at the TIFR Graduate School. Applicants may also propose novel areas of
research in related fields relevant to the department. The application procedure is given in the
