Name of the Post: Senior Technical Officer (Lab Support) 

Post Code: 02/26 

Essential Qualification & Experience: 

Direct Recruitment: BE/B-Tech (in relevant field) with minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance of large installations for institutes/industry where the Research & Scientific work is carried out. 

Desirable: 60% marks in aggregate/post-graduation 

Job Description: (An indicative list of the work areas of the incumbent is given below (they are not exhaustive and new areas may be added later) 

 Supervise the day-to-day operations of common laboratory facilities, shared scientific infrastructure, and Laboratory Assistants. 
 Assist Principal Investigators in establishing, maintaining, and supporting research laboratories and common laboratory facilities. 
 Ensure quality control of laboratory media, reagents, buffers, cell culture media, sterilized materials, and other shared research resources. 
 Provide routine laboratory and cell culture support, including maintenance of common cell line repositories. 
 Coordinate installation, preventive maintenance, servicing, calibration, and repair of laboratory equipment and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 
 Manage procurement of laboratory equipment, consumables, chemicals, and services, including preparation of technical specifications, vendor coordination, and contract management. 
 Maintain laboratory inventories, equipment records, service contracts, databases, registers, and other related documentation. 
 Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, biosafety guidelines, institutional regulations, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and safe handling, storage, segregation, and disposal of biomedical and laboratory waste. 
 Develop, implement, monitor, and periodically update SOPs, laboratory operational policies, and best practices. 
 Provide technical support and training to students, researchers, laboratory personnel, and facility users on laboratory operations, equipment, and safety procedures. 
 Plan, coordinate, administer, and monitor laboratory support services, research facility operations, and institutional laboratory expansion or infrastructure projects. 
 Prepare reports and coordinate with internal stakeholders, technical service teams, and external vendors for effective laboratory operations. 
 Perform any other laboratory, technical, supervisory, administrative, or related duties as assigned by the Competent Authority.

Job Description: (An indicative list of the work areas of the incumbent is given below (they are not exhaustive and new areas may be added later) 

 Provide operational, technical, and administrative support for centralized scientific facilities, research platforms, and automation-enabled laboratory operations.  Manage and maintain automated laboratory systems, liquid handling workstations, biobanks, cell culture platforms, and associated scientific infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability. 
 Coordinate the installation, qualification, calibration, preventive maintenance, servicing, and lifecycle management of scientific equipment and facility resources. 
 Oversee biobank operations, including sample collection, tracking, storage, inventory management, quality control, and data integrity. 
 Support high-throughput research workflows by ensuring efficient utilization of scientific infrastructure, equipment, and technical resources in compliance with approved protocols and quality standards. 
 Coordinate procurement of scientific equipment, consumables, service contracts, and maintenance requirements, and liaise with vendors, service providers, collaborating institutions, and external agencies. 
 Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), laboratory records, maintenance logs, operational documentation, and project-related technical records in accordance with institutional, regulatory, biosafety, and quality requirements. 
 Coordinate and monitor all aspects of assigned scientific projects in close liaison with Principal Investigators, scientific facility teams, collaborating laboratories, funding agencies, and partner organizations to ensure timely achievement of project milestones, deliverables, and objectives. 
 Serve as the primary point of coordination and communication among project stakeholders to facilitate effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and execution of research activities. 
 Compile, analyze, and maintain scientific and project-related data; prepare technical reports, progress reports, presentations, briefing notes, literature reviews, and other documentation to support institutional decision-making and reporting requirements. 
 Provide user training and technical support for scientific equipment, laboratory systems, and facility operations, and assist in the implementation of institutional projects, facility expansions, and technology upgrades. 
 Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary research teams while maintaining high standards of professionalism, organization, accuracy, accountability, and compliance in a dynamic research environment. 
 Perform any other scientific, technical, project management, or administrative duties assigned by the Competent Authority from time to time in the interest of the Institute.. 

Name of the Post: Technical Officer-I (Instrumentation)

Essential Qualification & Experience: 
Direct Recruitment: BE/B-Tech (in relevant field) with minimum 1-2 years’ experience preferably in a research establishment OR 3-year Diploma in Engineering with minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance of large installations for institutes/industry where the Research & Scientific work is carried out. Desirable: 60% marks in aggregate 

Job Description: (An indicative list of the work areas of the incumbent is given below (they are not exhaustive, and new areas may be added later): 

 Install, operate, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain scientific instruments and equipment used for life science research, ensuring their optimum performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications. 
 Operate, maintain, and coordinate preventive maintenance of laboratory utility systems, including gas distribution manifolds, autoclaves, sterilization units, rack and cage washers, individually ventilated cage (IVC) systems, and laboratory interlocking systems. 
 Operate and maintain institutional communication and conferencing infrastructure, including telecommunication systems, audio-visual facilities, video/audio conferencing systems, and related equipment. 
 Provide technical support for institutional seminars, conferences, workshops, and other academic events, including live streaming, recording, editing, archiving, and retrieval of audio-visual content. 
 Maintain comprehensive records of equipment installation, commissioning, calibration, preventive maintenance, breakdowns, repairs, service history, and Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs)/Comprehensive Maintenance Contracts (CMCs). 
 Maintain inventories of instruments, spare parts, consumables, and accessories; monitor stock levels and assist in procurement, installation, commissioning, and vendor coordination for scientific and technical equipment. 
 Coordinate with equipment manufacturers, service providers, and internal stakeholders for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, warranty claims, and validation of equipment performance. 
 Support the procurement, installation, operation, maintenance, and administration of institutional access control systems, biometric attendance systems, and other technical infrastructure.

 Perform preventive maintenance, routine servicing, calibration, troubleshooting, and upkeep of scientific instruments, laboratory equipment, and associated technical facilities. 
 Maintain records relating to installation, maintenance, repairs, calibration, performance verification, and operational history of scientific instruments and equipment. 
 Monitor utilization of common instruments through logbooks and online scheduling systems, and recommend replacement, expansion, or upgradation, wherever required. 
 Maintain inventories of instruments, spare parts, and consumables, and assist in procurement and inventory management. 
 Coordinate and monitor servicing, repairs, calibration, and preventive maintenance of laboratory instruments through the Helpdesk system and liaison with vendors/service providers. 
 Operate and maintain laboratory utility systems, including water purification systems, centralized gas distribution, compressed air, vacuum systems, sterilizers, autoclaves, and other common scientific infrastructure. 
 Install, operate, and maintain institutional technical systems, including access control, telecommunication, and basic electronic instrumentation. 
 Provide technical support for audio-visual systems, live streaming, conferences, seminars, workshops, lectures, and other institutional events. 
 Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, equipment operating procedures, institutional policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. Provide technical assistance and user support for operation of scientific instruments and perform any other related duties assigned by the Competent Authority.

 Prepare, dispense, and maintain laboratory reagents, buffers, media, cell culture consumables, and other common laboratory supplies required for research activities. 
 Perform routine laboratory procedures, including maintenance of mammalian cell lines, preparation of culture media, basic laboratory testing, calculations, and documentation in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 
 Operate, maintain, calibrate, and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs of laboratory equipment, instruments, scientific facilities, glassware, and laboratory infrastructure to ensure their smooth functioning. 
 Maintain laboratory inventories, equipment logs, batch records, maintenance records, databases, and other documentation; monitor stock levels and assist with procurement to ensure uninterrupted availability of laboratory supplies and equipment. 
 Supervise routine laboratory and scientific facility support activities, including quality control of laboratory media and sterilized materials, housekeeping, and operational support. 
 Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, biosafety, biomedical waste management, personal protective equipment (PPE), and institutional policies, SOPs, and applicable regulatory requirements. 
 Provide technical assistance and training to researchers, students, laboratory and facility users on laboratory practices, equipment operation, and safety procedures; assist in setting up new laboratories and scientific facilities. 
 Coordinate with technical teams, maintenance personnel, vendors, and other stakeholders for equipment servicing, facility administration, scheduling, documentation, data management, and other operational requirements. 
Assist in implementing laboratory operational procedures, quality management systems, facility development activities, and provide logistical and administrative support for institutional research programmes and other activities as assigned by the Competent Authority. 

Name of the Post: Technical Assistant (HVAC)

 Operate, monitor, and maintain HVAC plant rooms, including air-cooled and watercooled chillers, primary, secondary, and condenser water pumps, cooling towers, expansion tanks, associated piping systems, and other allied equipment to ensure uninterrupted operation. 
 Carry out routine operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs of chilled water–based HVAC systems and DX-based air-conditioning systems, including VRF systems, cold rooms, unitary air-conditioning units, Fan Coil Units (FCUs), Air Handling Units (AHUs), ventilation systems, exhaust and emergency fans, and other associated equipment. 
 Monitor system performance, maintain shift operations, conduct routine inspections, verify operational parameters, and maintain daily logbooks, checklists, and other maintenance records. 
 Coordinate and supervise Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs), service providers, and vendors; monitor service quality, ensure timely preventive maintenance and breakdown rectification, and verify compliance with contractual obligations. 
 Maintain equipment history sheets, maintenance records, calibration and servicing documentation, and other technical records in accordance with institutional procedures. 
 Ensure compliance with safety standards, statutory requirements, energy conservation practices, and institutional policies while operating and maintaining HVAC systems. 
 Assist in installation, testing, commissioning, performance evaluation, and upgradation of HVAC systems and related infrastructure as required. 
 Coordinate with users, engineering teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of HVAC services across the Institute. 
 Perform any other technical or operational duties related to HVAC systems as assigned by the Competent Authority.
