Advertisement for Junior Research Fellow & Lab Assistant position in DBT Project Applications are invited for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Lab Assistant (LA) positions available in the Department of Genetic Engineering, School of Biotechnology, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai to work in a research project titled ‘Catechol dioxygenases as a tool for industrial production of bio-based platform chemicals’ sanctioned by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), New Delhi (Ref: No: BT/PR62194/BME/172/32/2025 dt. 28/05/2026).

3 Qualification
Qualification for JRF: M.Sc. (with at least 60% marks) in Biotechnology. CSIR-NET/UGC-NET/DBT/ICMR/GATE or Equivalent National Eligibility Test qualification is desirable.
Qualification for LA: B.Sc in Life Sciences with experience
4 Desirable Experience in rDNA technology and microbial fermentations using fermenter
5 Fellowship (as per DST norms)
i) JRF- Rs. 37,000 + 18% HRA/p.m. to the candidates who are qualified in National Eligibility Test
ii) JRF- Rs. 25,000 p.m. (consolidated) to the non-NET candidates
iii) Lab Assistant - Rs. 20,000 + 18% HRA/p.m
6 Duration
2 years or Co-terminus with the project
7 Age limit 28 years
8 Selection Process
1) Written test, 2) Personal Interview and 3) Document verification. The engagement is purely on a temporary basis.
Dispersal of the fellowship is contingent on the release of the grant from DBT
