PREAMBLE 

Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (Deemed University) offers postgraduate programs leading to the award of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, (PhD).  The award of PhD Degree is in recognition of high academic achievements, independent research and application of knowledge to the solution of technical and scientific problems.  Creative and productive inquiry is the basic requirement underlying the research work.
The academic program leading to the PhD Degree is broad-based and may involve course credit requirements at the discretion of the Institute and a non-optional research thesis.

The Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) of the Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (Deemed University) shall be conferred on a candidate who fulfils all the requirements specified in these Ordinances and Regulations.

1.      CRITERIA AND PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION TO PhD PROGRAM

1.1.   Minimum Qualifications :
(i)          Regular (Not distance mode) M. Tech Degree for Ph.D. in Engineering / Technology in respective branch with 60% Aggregate Marks or equivalent CGPA.
(ii)         Regular (Not distance mode) Master’s Degree for Ph.D. in Sciences / Humanities / Social Sciences / Management / Pharmacy with 60% Aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA.
(iii)        Consistently good academic performance all through.

1.2. Admission
Admission is based on
(i)          Satisfying the requirements of minimum qualifications as laid down in 1.1.
(ii)         Performance in Interview for those who have qualified in GATE / SLET / UGC / CSIR (JRF) examinations.
(iii)        Performance in
(a)     the PhD Entrance Test to be conducted by JIIT, Noida for all those who are not qualified in any of the examinations mentioned in 1.2.(ii) and
(b)     the subsequent Interview.
(iv)       Candidates are required to discuss their research interests and proposed research work at the time of Interview.
(v)         JIIT would decide the number of Scholars to be admitted before the selections every time.
(vi)       Due attention will be given to the National Reservation Policy.
(vii)   Faculty members can be permitted to register directly.
(vii)      The students admitted to the PhD Program will be required to register themselves for the specific Program. The registration will be renewed every semester on satisfactory progress.


POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMS 2011
 
Two year M.Tech programs at all Institutes 

These programs provide for compulsory core courses, elective subjects and intensive project work in the respective area of specialization. The objective of the M.Tech profram is to impart advanced level knowledge in the field of specialization making the students suited to better academia as well as industry and assume responsibilities requiring greater research, design and development aptitude. Through compulsory core subjects the students acquire a state-of-the-art advanced knowledge in a chosen field of specialization. The elective courses give the opportunity to further specialize in the field depending on his/her interest and the future career plans.  For project work, students are required to take-up problems on a particular topic in the field to focus their study and work.  They are required to submit a dissertation/report at the end of the project work compiling their study, findings and contributions. M.Tech project and dissertation work usually enables students to publish their results. Project work prepares the students’ mind to take up challenging research and development tasks. Seminars are part of the M.Tech curriculum for which students collect material on specific current topics and make presentations.

Post-graduate programs of study to be offered during academic session 2011-12 are given below.

Ø  Two-year M.Tech in Computational Biology (JUIT)

The M.Tech program in Computational Biology is a unique program of its kind preparing a keen, intelligent and committed student from either physical sciences or biological sciences streams to meet the requirement of industry or academia in Bioinformatics.

FEE STRUCTURE

Tuition Fee   Rs. 35,000 per semester (Subject to revision)

Financial Help (Teaching Assistant-ship )

Teaching assistantship of Rs. 8000/- to Rs. 10000/- is available to selected students based on merit drawn, as per University rules. Teaching assistantship is considered afresh for the M.Tech students during subsequent semesters (up-to 3rd Semester) based on their academic performance. (Conditions apply).

NOTE: Candidates with low GATE score, who do not come in the merit for selection under GATE category shall automatically be considered for PGET-2011 & therefore must attend the test accordingly.
