Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow in an OSDD (CSIR) funded research project entitled Isolation and characterization of antimycobacterial molecules for Actinomycetes in the laboratories of Dr. R Ajay Kumar (Mycobacterium Resesearch Group) and Dr. Sabu Thomas (Cholera & Environmental Laboratory) at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

Essential qualifications :

Consistent, excellent academic record with First class Masters Degree in Microbiology/ Life Sciences/ Biotechnology with CSIR/UGC/NET qualification. Those candidate without CSIR/UGC NET also can apply; however, if such a candidate is selected, the emolument will be as per the DST/CSIR norms. The project involves handling of virulent laboratory strain of M.tuberculosis. The candidate must be willing to work under strict bio-safety containment facilities.

Desirable qualifications :

Experience in handling M. tuberculosis.

Age : Below 28 years as on 15th February, 2013

Emoluments : 16,000/- + 20% HRA for CSIR/UGC NET qualified candidates; 12,000/- + 20% HRA for others.

Duration : Three years or till termination of the project (whichever is earlier).

Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview.

Envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, advertisement number and job title. The appointment is subject to yearly assessment by a review committee and poor performance can lead to discontinuation of appointment. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.
