RCB Emeritus Scientists Scheme

The RCB Emeritus Scientist Scheme shall provide assistance to the superannuated outstanding scientist(s)/ academician(s) for pursuing advanced research/ teaching in their fields of specializations which has relevance to the research activities being pursued in the Centre. Centre is presently engaged in research and teaching in a wide range of areas covering biotechnology and related inter-disciplinary sciences. Individuals who are highly acknowledged in the field of their specialization and are actively engaged in scientific research during their career for not less than 25 years and have proven scientific productivity during the last 5 years will be considered.

The eligibility, entitlement and selection process will be as under:-

Eligibility

a. Scientists/ Academicians who have already superannuated or are about to superannuate

b. Atleast 25 years of research/teaching experience c. Scientist(s)/ Academician(s) with outstanding track record as evidenced by publications, particularly showing research productivity during last 5 years

Tenure

a. The tenure shall be for maximum of 3 years.

b. The age at end of the tenure shall not exceed 70 years

Obligations of the Emeritus Scientist

a. Continue ongoing research in the area of his/her expertise.

b. Participate in the teaching and training programmes of the Centre

c. Contribute towards strengthening of scientific and academic activities of the Centre.

Entitlements

a. Emeritus Scientists will be granted consolidated emoluments of Rs.60,000/- (all inclusive) per month.

b. Emeritus Scientists are allowed to formulate proposals for receiving extramural grants in collaboration with scientist(s) working in similar/related areas from RCB.

Selection process

a. Applications/nominations will be invited through announcement at RCB web site.

b. The Selection Committee will consider applications received from individuals against the announcement as well as nominations received from eminent academic persons.

Applications/ nominations complete in all respects including detailed CVs mentioning scientific and mentorship capabilities, other proven qualities, list of publications, and a brief research proposal should reach the Registrar, Regional Centre for Biotechnology, 3rd Milestone of Faridabad-Gurgaon Expressway, Faridabad, Haryana – 121 001 on or before 21.08.2015.

Nominations should include a certificate that the nominee has consented to be considered for the position.
