Applications are invited for the following position under DST- SERB-Start-Up Research Grant (Young Scientists):

Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – One

Project Title: “Association of Vitamin D and related variables with postpartum depression in South Indian women

Duration of project : 2 years

Tenure: Period of 1 year (likely to be extended beyond 1 year based on satisfactory performance). The post is purely temporary in nature, co-terminus with the project.

ESSENTIAL:

Educational Qualification: M. Sc or equivalent degree Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology/ Genetics/ Life sciences /Medical biochemistry/ MLT/ with at least 60% marks and NET qualified OR BE/ BTech or equivalent degree in Biotechnology with at least 60% marks and GATE qualified OR MSc/ M Tech or equivalent degree in Biotechnology with at least 60% marks.

Experience: One year research experience in Molecular biology/ Genetics

DESIRABLE: Candidates with experience in PCR, Real Time PCR and good in biostatistics and manuscript writing will be given preference. Documents in support of research experience (not below the undergraduate level) should be attached

AGE LIMIT: • . The upper age limit is 28 years as on the last date of receipt of applications. • Age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC, ST, OBCs and physically handicapped on production of suitable certificates from the competent authority. Women candidates are also given age relaxation of five years. Stipend: Consolidated salary of Rs. 16,000/- + 10% HRA as per DST guidelines.

Note: The JRF is expected to coordinate work between the collaborating departments at JIPMER (Pondicherry)

EMPLOYED CANDIDATES: This fellowship is held on a full time basis. Therefore simultaneous employment elsewhere is not permitted. However, those desirous of pursuing higher studies, but employed presently, whether temporary or permanent may apply with an undertaking that if selected, they will resign from the job before taking up the fellowship. The application will be rejected if the undertaking is not enclosed.
