Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior research fellow/ Senior research fellow/ Research Associate in a CSIR funded research project entitled "Denovo transcriptiome sequencing, microarray development and elucidation of pythium responsive defence pathways in zingiber zerumbet (L.) Smith” in the Laboratory of Dr. George Thomas at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.


Only one. One suitable candidate will be selected from the pool of JRF/ SRF/ RA.


Junior Research Fellow

  1. Masters degree in Botany/Agricultural Science/Bioinformatics with 55% marks
  2. Qualified National Eligibility Test with a valid JRF/GATE

Senior Research Fellow

  1. Masters degree in Botany/Agricultural Science/Bioinformatics with 55% marks
  2. Minimum two years of documented research experience after MSc as evidenced by publications in standard peer reviewed referred journals.

Research Associate

  1. Doctorate in Life Sciences

Below 35 years as on 9th May, 2016.


Junior Research Fellow: Rs.12000 + 20% HRA
Senior Research Fellow: Rs.14000+ 20% HRA
Research Associate: Rs.36000+ 20% HRA


Two years or till termination of the project whichever is earlier.

Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications under the JRF category, a written test will be conducted and successful candidates will be called for interview on the same day along with the short listed SRF/RA candidates. No TA/ DA will be given for appearing in the interview.

Suitably qualified candidates may send applications in the prescribed format (Download here) with a photograph, a copy of full resume indicating the percentage of Marks obtained and attested photocopies of credentials & experience to reach the undersigned on or before 9th May, 2016. Envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.
