Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow in a DST funded research project entitled "Functional studies on the IncRNAs of Plasmodium falciparum and its role in antigenic variation process" in the Laboratory of Dr. Arumugam Rajavelu at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have first class Masters Degree in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or any other relevant subjects with good academic records. The candidates in final year of M.Sc (Results awaited) are also encouraged to apply, however the candidate should be qualified at the time of interview.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Qualification in National Eligibility Test [CSIR-UGC NET Including LS /GATE/ DBT-JRF/ ICMR-JRF etc.].
- The work includes cultivation of malarial parasite under laboratory conditions, therefore prior experience with cell culture work would be recommended.
AGE:
28 years as on 25th May, 2016.
EMOLUMENTS:
Rs.25,000 for the first two years and Rs.28,000 for the third year + 20% HRA for National Eligibility Test (NET) qualified candidates.
Rs.12,000/- + 20% HRA for the first two years and Rs.14,000 for the third year + 20% HRA for those who are not qualified National Eligibility test.
DURATION:
Three years or till termination of the project whichever is earlier. The initial appointment will be given for 2 years and further extension will be based on the performance.
Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications, a written test will be conducted before the selection interview and only those who are successful in the written test will be interviewed. No TA/ DA will be given for appearing in the interview.

Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.
