PhD in Allied Health Sciences at Yenepoya Research Centre and YU-IOB Centre for Bioinformatics, Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, Yenepoya University, Mangalore- 575 018, India

The research group of Dr Divya Lakshmanan M at Yenepoya Research Centre, Yenepoya University, Mangalore, India offer the following PhD position to work on the following topic:

Evaluation of the Role of Endocrine Disrupting Compounds in Modulating Antibody Receptor Diversity and Translocation

Brief Description of the Project:

Environmental pollutants classified as Endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) are known to bring genomic instability leading to autoimmunity and oncogenesis. The lab focuses on a class of EDCs termed as xenoestrogens, which mimics the function of physiological estrogens, thus altering the normal homeostasis of the body. As estrogen receptor are expressed in immune cells of the body, it will be interesting to see how it alters or modulates B cell mediated responses.

This project aims to investigate the molecular mechanisms by which xenoestrogens modulate class switch recombination and chromosomal translocations in cell lines and mouse models.

The project is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST/YSS/2016/000987), Government of India, for a period of 3 years.
