NATIONAL BRAIN RESEARCH CENTRE (NBRC) invites application for the position of “R&D
Scientist (Project)” in a DBT funded project.
Applications are invited for the position of R&D Scientist (Project) in the laboratory of Prof.
Pravat K. Mandal at National Brain Research Centre, Manesar, India.
The scientific interest of the lab is
to identify early in vivo biomarkers for neurodegenerative disorders, new/novel signal processing toolbox
(Kalpana), Indian Brain Template and new toolbox (Boldsync for fMRI study). The lab uses multimodal
neuroimaging techniques, i.e. magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI (fMRI), and
magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and MEG data to investigate the associated structural,
functional, and neurochemical brain alterations, respectively. Interested candidates fulfilling the

Project Emoluments 45,000/- p.m. (consolidated) (No other allowances are applicable).
Essential qualification
Masters in Engineering (minimum one-year research experience) / Ph. D. in Science.
Masters in Engineering (minimum one-year research experience) / Ph. D. in Science.
Minimum 60% marks from matriculation onwards.
Desirable qualifications
/ Experience
Research experience in the area of EEG / MEG signal processing.
Experience with data analysis tools viz., MATLAB, IDL and R
software.
Registration of images from various imaging modalities.
Ability to multitask, effective project leadership and management.
Knowledge and experience with Neuroimaging and MR Spectroscopy
will be added advantage.
Excellent scientific communication and writing skills. Experience with
writing scientific manuscripts is essential.
Mandatory requirement
Statement of Purpose (SOP) (minimum 500 words) indicating your
research interests/expertise and Masters/PhD project details.
Candidate should indicate how his / her experience / expertise will help
ongoing research activities of the Neuroimaging and
Neurospectroscopy laboratory. Candidate with SOP as well as
appropriate expertise be shortlisted.
Age Limit The upper age limit shall be 35 years as on the closing date for receipt
of application.

Tenure Initial appointment will be for a period of one year, which can be
extended based on a performance review. The post is co-terminus with
the project. Selected candidates will have to abide by the rules and
regulations of NBRC.
