Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary position of a Research
Associate-I in the Gates foundation funded project entitled “Development of climate resilient chickpea and
brassica by gene editing”, underthe supervision of Dr. Prabhakaran Soundararajan, Scientist-III, NIPGR.
(A) Research Associate-I (One Position):
Emoluments: ₹ 58,000/- plus 27% HRA per month.
Eligibility: Candidates having PhD degree in Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Bioinformatics/ Computational
Biology/Plant Breeding/Life Sciences or related fields can apply. Further, persons should have experience in
the following area with proven publication record.
1. Gene editing - CRISPR/Cas
Candidate also must be needed to work in field, greenhouse, tissue culture, and growth chamber for plant
maintenance and sample collection.

Preference will be given to candidates with previous work experience in Brassica, Agrobacterium-mediated
transformation, bioinformatics with track record of publications.
The Fellowship amount for the above position is at par with the similar fellowships by DBT/DST and the same
shall be decided based on the relevant experience of the Candidate. The position is purely temporary and is coterminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for one year, which can be extended/curtailed on the
basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the competent authority.
NIPGR reserves
the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the
candidate. Reservation of post shall be as per Government of India norms. The position may be terminated any
time by giving a month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for
consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.

Assistant in the Gates Foundation project “Development of climate resilient chickpea and Brassica by gene
editing” under the supervision of Dr. Prabhakaran Soundararajan, and Dr. Shiv Kumar Meena, Scientists,
NIPGR.
The details of the position are as under:
Technical Assistant (TA) (one post):
Emoluments: ₹ 30,000/- (consolidated).
Qualification: Candidates having Bachelor’s degree in Plant Biology / Botany / Genetics / Biochemistry /
Biotechnology / Agriculture / Life sciences / Bioinformatics are eligible to apply.
Desirable Criteria: Basic knowledge of molecular biology tools/techniques and handling tissue culture and
transformation.
Preference will be given to candidates with proven track record on experience with CRISPR-based genome
editing methods, plant tissue culture, PCR genotyping, basic cloning, & vector construction.

The above position is completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment
will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended
based on assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves
the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the
candidate. The appointment may be terminated at any time by giving one-month notice by either side. The
applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.
