Applications are invited for the recruitment of contractual staffs for Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU), Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) project at Madras Medical College and Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai” under Contractual basis.

Project Research Scientist - III (Non-Medical- data analysis) (01-post):

(i) Essential Qualifications:
1. Post Graduate Degree (Life Sciences / Environmental Health / Genetics / Epidemiology /Public Health or allied disciplines), including the integrated PG degrees, with five years’ post qualification experience or PhD + two years post qualification experience.

(ii) Desirable Qualifications:
 Experience in statistical modeling of environmental exposure and health outcome relationships (e.g., regression models, time-series analysis, exposure–response curves).
 Proficiency in epidemiological analysis of cohort studies, intervention trials, and community-based studies.
 Experience analyzing microbiome sequencing data using bioinformatics pipelines (QIIME, Mothur, SPSS, R packages, etc.).
 Knowledge of maternal and neonatal health indicators, preterm birth research variables, and infection risk modeling.
 Experience in survival analysis, risk prediction modeling, or multivariate modeling for clinical outcomes.
 Ability to interpret complex datasets and translate findings into policy-relevant or programmatic recommendations.
Experience preparing statistical reports, scientific manuscripts, and presentations for multicentric or government-funded projects.

Project Research Scientist - I (Non-Medical- data management) (01-post):

(i) Essential Qualifications:
 Essential Qualifications: Post Graduate Degree in Life sciences subjects, including the integrated PG degrees in Life sciences subjects
(ii) Desirable Qualifications:
 Ph.D. in the relevant field (Life Sciences / Environmental Health / Genetics / Epidemiology / Public Health or allied disciplines).
 Ability to design data collection tools (electronic CRFs, REDCap, ODK, etc.) for fieldbased epidemiological studies.
 Understanding of data governance, privacy protection, and regulatory compliance for environmental, genetic, and clinical datasets.
 Experience managing environmental exposure datasets (air pollution indices, particulate matter levels, indoor air quality metrics) and integrating them with clinical or epidemiological datasets.
 Familiarity with environmental health surveillance tools, geospatial mapping, or exposure modeling software.
 Experience handling microbiome datasets including metagenomic or 16S rRNA sequencing data management and metadata curation.
 Knowledge of maternal–neonatal cohort databases, obstetric and neonatal clinical variables, and longitudinal follow-up datasets.
 Experience in community-based health program databases, volunteer monitoring systems, or palliative care registries.

Project Technical Support – III (09 post):

(i) Essential Qualifications:
 Three Years Graduate degree in Life sciences subjects + three Years post qualification experience or PG in in Life sciences subjects
(ii) Desirable Qualifications:
 Field experience in environmental monitoring studies including household surveys, exposure assessments, or air quality measurements.
 Experience assisting microbiological or molecular laboratory workflows related to maternal, neonatal, or infectious disease research.
 Familiarity with sample collection protocols for microbiome or clinical specimens (maternal swabs, neonatal samples, environmental samples).
 Experience supporting community-based health programs, palliative care initiatives, or rural health outreach activities.
 Ability to coordinate with field investigators, volunteers, ASHA workers, or community health teams.
 Skills in maintaining study logs, participant tracking, and follow-up scheduling for cohort or intervention studies.
 Basic understanding of infection control practices and biosafety procedures in clinical or research settings.

Mode of Selection:

Selection will be purely based on the merit basis as per the DHR-ICMR Guidelines.
1. This post is purely contractual; the appointment will be for a period of 11 months initially and may be extended further.
2. No TA/DA will be paid for attending interview.
3. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in similar projects with other DHR-ICMR projects.

Salary and other Service Conditions:
For all the mentioned posts monthly-consolidated pay will be given as per the DHR-ICMR guidelines. All the employees are not provided with any pension benefits or other allowances.
The guidelines of ICMR will be strictly adhered whenever updated.

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview. In case number of candidates is too many, an objective written test will be held to shortlist the candidates eligible for interview. This will also be informed to candidates by email. At the time of interview, candidates are requested to submit 3 hard copy of bio-data along with the self attested copies of certificates and passport size photographs. The candidates are also required to bring original certificates and testimonials for verification at the time of interview.
