RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

RA to work on synthetic biology in the translational cancer research program.


The Research Associate will be expected to plan and execute work with minimal supervision reporting directly to the Program Leader. The Research Associate will also be expected to be a mentor to trainee students, research fellows and technical support staff. The position is on contract and for a maximum period of three years.
This position is an ideal platform for young enthusiastic post docs looking for comprehensive training as a prelude to applying for faculty positions in India and abroad. RGCB is fully funded by the Department of Biotechnology and provides an excellent research infrastructure. RGCB is all set to initiate and explore applications of synthetic biology to cancer genomics.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS


PhD in Biotechnology or Life Sciences with documented comprehensive and "hands on" experience in molecular biology.

Desirable qualifications


Documented "hands on" experience in recombinant DNA techniques, molecular cloning, microbial cell culture, and other routine molecular biology protocols.
Relevant publications in peer reviewed journals.

Fellowship and allowances


The selected candidate will be paid a monthly fellowship of Rs. 20,000 + 15% HRA for the first year, Rs. 21,000 + 15% HRA for the second year and Rs. 22,000 + 15% HRA for the third year. No other allowances are admissible.

Selection Process


Applications with bio data and other credentials, including two letters of reference (one from PhD mentor) may be sent to the undersigned. Eligible candidates will be short-listed and asked to appear for a selection interview. Candidates are expected to make 15 minute power point presentation on their previous work record in molecular biology. Candidates called for the selection interview will be paid II Class AC train fare from their starting point of journey to Thiruvananthapuram by the shortest route.
