Advanced Diploma in Molecular Diagnostics (ADMD) @ BHARATHIDASAN UNIVERSITY, (Accredited with 'A' Grade by NAAC), Tiruchirappalli-620 024, Tamil Nadu.

DBT, Govt. of India has recently launched a proposal under Human Resource Development Programme (Training courses for Technologist) to impart training to the post-graduates from various biological disciplines in identified areas of national relevance. Applications are invited from the interested Candidates.

Eligibility: PG (M.Sc./M.Tech) with first class in any branch of life sciences (Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Genomics, Pharmacy, Fisheries and Veterinary Sciences) (50% for SC/ST).

Duration: One year (two semesters) with intensive lab-based curriculum and a project report.

Course contents: Eukaryotic and bacterial DNA extraction, isolation of DNA from different clinical samples, mRNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, PCR based detection of genetic diseases and infectious agents with reference to human health, agricultural and aquaculture. Detection of cancer and stem cell markers, blotting techniques, restriction analysis (RFLP) for polymorphic SNPs and RAPD for diversity analysis, detection of clones and expression analysis, two color immunofluorescence, HLA tissue-typing and immunoblotting.

Stipend: Selected candidates are eligible for DBT studentship of Rs.5, 000/- p.m. for one year.

Course Fee: Rs. 10, 000/-(yearly)

Mode of Selection: National Level entrance test and as per Central Govt.reservation policy.

Submission of application & selection procedure: The application form and prospectus can be had from the University office by payment of Rs. 200/- (Rs.100/- for SC\ST) in the form of DD drawn in favour of 'The Registrar, Bharathidasan University' payable at Tiruchirappalli. The downloaded application can be submitted along with the application fee to the Course Co-ordinator (DBT-ADMD). Hall tickets will be sent to the eligible candidates both by post and E. mail. The entrance test question of objective pattern with an emphasis on genetics, molecular biology and immunology is on 20th, October 11 A.M.- 1P.M. The selected candidates will be intimated by mail, post and through University website www.bdu.ac.in. The course commences on 3rd November, 2008.
