We are looking for young and dynamic personnel for the following scientific positions:
Post No. S-102/09: Scientist B, Group IV(1) in the pay scale of Rs. 15,600- 39,100/- (PB3) with grade pay of Rs.5400/-, 1 Vacancy (reserved for ST candidate) Age limit: 35 years
Essential qualifications: M. Sc. in Environmental Science, or Life Science (Biology / Marine Biology/ Botany/ Zoology/ Microbiology), or Marine Science (with specialization in Marine Biology/ Microbiology) from a recognized university with first class or equivalent marks/ grade.
Desirable: Proven track record for carrying out research in biological oceanography/ biotechnology, as demonstrated by candidate’s publication record in high-impact factor SCI journals.
Job requirements: The selected candidate is expected to work on biological oceanography with special emphasis on issues related to the Indian Ocean.
Post No. S-107/09: Scientist C, Group IV(2) in the pay scale of Rs. 15,600- 39,100/- (PB3) with grade pay of Rs.6600/-, 2 Vacancies (unreserved) Age limit: 35 years
Essential qualifications: Ph.D. in any branch of Life Science from a recognized university with a thesis topic that is relevant to biological oceanography and a minimum 1 year of R&D work experience in biological oceanography.
Desirable: Proven track record for carrying out research in biological oceanography, preferably independently, as demonstrated by candidate’s publication record in high-impact factor SCI journals.
Job requirements: The selected candidates are expected to work on biological oceanography with special emphasis on issues related to the Indian Ocean.
Post No. S-110/09: Scientist E I, Group IV(3) in the pay scale of Rs. 15,600- 39,100/- (PB3) with Grade Pay of Rs.7600/-, 2 Vacancies (unreserved) Age limit: 40 years
Essential qualifications: Ph.D. in any branch of bioscience from a recognized university with a minimum of 4 years of R&D work experience of independent and high-quality research in biodiversity/ molecular biology and/ or related topics.
Desirable: Proven track record for carrying out research in biodiversity/ molecular biology and/ or related topics, preferably independently, as demonstrated by candidate’s publication record in high-impact factor SCI journals. Patents (granted and commercialized) in the candidate’s credit will be an additional indicator for his/ her innovative potential
Job requirements: The selected candidates will be responsible for initiating the activities of a “Designated National Repository (DNR)” for marine flora and fauna at the Cochin Regional Center of the National Institute of Oceanography and undertake allied research activities.
This DNR will be a centre recognized by the Government of India and is being established as an essential part of the national infrastructure for biodiversity conservation under Section 39 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
