King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research (KIPM&R) located at Guindy, Chennai, India is a premier institution under the Department of Health of Govt. of Tamil Nadu with an international reputation. The Institute has comprehensive facilities for Diagnosis, Research and Teaching. Recently this has been upgraded as a diagnostic centre for H1N1 Influenza epidemic. Introduction of Post Graduate (MSc.,) course on Molecular and Diagnostic Virology is an additional feather on its cap.

The Association

The Indian Association of Medical & Pharmaceutical Virologists (IAMPV) is a unique society of its kind. Started its journey in July 2008, it has a determined mission to serve for the cause of education and research in the fields of Medical and Pharmaceutical Virology. The main objective of this association is to disseminate knowledge on medically important viruses and pharmaceutical evaluation of existing drugs and potential sources of antiviral and viral vaccines in order to cure and prevent viral infections of human and animals. The areas of focus would be Surveillance research and diagnosis of viral diseases, newer methods in Clinical Virology, diagnostic methods Novel and effective antiviral drug development, Viral vaccine research, etc.
