Scope

In conjunction with other tools of research Electron  microscope is widely used in the fields of biological sciences, chemical sciences, physical sciences, industry etc. It is a well established fact that electron microscopy, both transmission and scanning have revolutionized our understanding of many aspects of research investigations. However, there is a great dearth in the availability of skilled and experienced persons to train the researchers, academicians, scientists and other desired persons for proper preparation of samples and the interpretation of results. As a result, the utility of electron microscope in understanding the microcharacters of materials is diminishing. Therefore the Bhanuben Ratilal Doshi School of Biosciences of Sardar Patel University and Sophisticated Instrumentation Centre for Applied Research and Testing (SICART) of Charutar Vidya Mandal, Vallabh Vidyanagar, which excel in this field with expertise and infrastructure, jointly propose to conduct this workshop. It is envisaged that this workshop will help to disseminate the knowledge and to train the man power in the field of electron microscopy. This workshop will also provide an excellent opportunity for those who are already in this field for enrichment of their knowledge on recent advances in TEM, SEM, and EDAX etc.

Topics intended to cover

Introduction to Electron Microscopy, Preparation of  samples (biological, physical, chemical, material & industrial etc.) for Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Surface topographic studies of samples under Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Elemental analysis by using EDAX, E. M. operation,  Interpretation of results

Who can attend the workshop?

This program has been specially designed for the benefit of scientists, researchers, academicians and technicians. In addition, desired people working in commercial organization/industry may also be considered. However, the number of participants will be limited to allow meaningful hands on experience.

Registration fee can be sent through a Demand Draft in favour of Director, Workshop on Electron Microscopy payable at Vallabh Vidyanagar (Bank of Baroda/ Corporation bank or any other bank).

Accommodation:

Accommodation will be provided to the outstation participants on first- come-first served basis excluding student participants.
