Application for Ph.D. Programme
Director IICT invites applications from highly research oriented Candidates to join the Ph.D. Programme at IICT as Junior Research Fellow (JRF).
Eligibility:
Candidates who are holding (i) first class M.Sc. degree or equivalent in Chemical Biology/ Biology and allied sciences and (ii) who have qualified in CSIR/UGC-NET under CSIR/UGC fellowship scheme, are eligible to apply. Please note that the candidates who have passed NET examination under Lectureship category are NOT eligible.
Selection:
Selection for admission to the Ph.D. Programme shall be on the basis of the interview(s) of short listed candidates at IICT. Presently about 5 Vacancies exist in the broad areas of Chemical Biology/ Biology. However, the number of candidates to be selected will depend on the vacancies that will exist at that time of enrollment.
Stipend:
The selected Junior Research Fellows, Ph.D. scholars will be eligible for a stipend and House Rent Allowances (HRA) and a contingency grant as admissible under the CSIR norms. On completion of two years, JRFs could be upgraded to Senior Research Fellows (SRF) on assessment. The total tenure (JRF+SRF) shall not exceed 5 years.

Last date of receipt of application is November 19, 2010. The interview will be held on November 29 & 30, 2010 at IICT. Please note that as per the applicable norms no TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates appearing for the interview.
Admission: The candidates who qualify in the interview(s) shall attend the councelling session scheduled on December 1, 2010 for allotment of research supervisor. The selected candidates are required to join the Ph.D. Programme on or before December 31, 2010 on the production/ verification of all relevant certificates.
