Scientific Program
The scope of the Meeting and the Expected Attendees
The ADNAT Conventions being held annually since 1996 are well known in India. Though regional in definition, the event is more international in scope with participation of experts from all over the globe.
The Scientific Program features Symposia and a Hands-on Training Course in the thematic area of Genomics and Biodiversity. The Conference is expected to be attended by regional scientists, university faculty, postdoctoral fellows and research students.
Feb 23-25, 2011 : International Symposium on "Genomics and Biodiversity"
Feb 26-March 12, 2011 : Hands-on Training Course on Molecular Methods for Characterization, Conservation and Utilization of Biodiversity
The scientific symposia will reflect, Genomic Methodologies/platforms for high-throughput diversity analysis of genomic landscapes, and use/potential of such approaches in characterization, management, conservation and utilization of biodiversity (of plants, animals, microflora). The broad sessional structure of the symposium is as follow:
Structure of the symposium The program will comprise invited talks from leading scientists from India and abroad, and also poster presentations dealing with different aspects of biodiversity (from its management, conservation to utilization) and also having a emphasis on use/potential of modern genomic tools in such studies. Some of the presentations from among the posters (mainly submitted by young researchers) will be selected for short platform presentations. In the end, it is planned to have a panel discussion on GMOs and their socio-economic aspects.
Session I: Inaugural session Lectures outlining the scope of genomics and biodiversity (overall)
Session II: Genomics platform and technologies
Session III: Characterization of biodiversity
Session IV: Conservation of biodiversity (population studies, conservation)
Session V: Genomics for harnessing biodiversity
Session VI:
Genomics of pathogens/pests diversity, disease and health
Session VI: Genomics for harnessing biodiversity: Microbes
Session VII: Biodiversity studies in challenging scenarios
Session VIII: Short-presentations by young researchers
Session IX: Panel Discussion: Socio-economics aspects related to biodiversity /GMOs
The Post symposium Training Course will offer Hands-on Training in DNA variations based Molecular Methods useful to address different aspects of biodiversity.
