Background Dumping of waste unmindful of the environment has caused unprecedented levels of pollution in land and water resources leading to deterioration in quality of life and other long ranging consequences. If left unattended, this might cause serious health hazards. The only alternative for waste management is to reduce, reuse or recycle them into useful products. The symposium will review the state of the art technologies and highlight the problem of wastes and their effective management, so that new strategies for waste management can be formulated. It will create a platform for conscientizing scientists, planners, entrepreneurs and the public about the impending damage that can be caused by waste accumulation and its improper management. It will also serve as a forum where they can interact and device methods to better coordinate the activities related to waste management.

Eligibility Scientists, College Lecturers, Research Fellows, Students,NGOs and Farmers.

Travel and accommodation Selected participants will be paid TAiDA depending on the availability of funds. Accommodation will be arranged at the following rates (per person/day):
 
A/C Room : Rs. 1000-1500/-
Non-A/C Room : Rs.600-900/-
University Guest Room : Rs. 60-100/-
