I National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA):


Duration: 1 year & extendable further

1.Research Associate (4 posts) – One each for Plant Physiology/Biotechnology/Entomology/Pl. Breeding

Essential Qualifications: PhD or MSc degree in any branch of Life Sciences from a recognized University with specialization in above mentioned relevant field or M.Sc with three years research experience as evidenced by publications.

The candidates submitted their Ph.D. thesis and waiting for viva can also be considered subject to their producing the copy.

Desirable Qualifications:

a) Candidates conversant with modern physiology, biochemical equipments, data loggers of modern data acquisition systems and statistical packages,
b) Phenotyping and germplasm maintenance,
c) Experience in conducting experiments in greenhouse and field studies &
d) Preference will be given to those with publications in reputed journals and CSIR/NET qualified candidates.

Emoluments: Consolidated pay of `23,000/- p.m. for M.Sc., & `24,000/-p.m. plus HRA for Ph.D. degree.

2. Senior Research Fellow (16 posts)

Essential Qualifications: 3-Plant Breeding + 3-Biotechnology:

MSc Agriculture/MSc Life Sciences from a recognized University including the following areas of specialization i.e. Biochemistry/Molecular biology/Plant Breeding/Genetics/Plant sciences and allied subjects.

4 (four positions): MSc specialization in Entomology/Zoology/Computer Application

4 (four positions – 3 Physiology & 1 Computers sciences): M.Sc. in Agriculture with Plant Physiology or M.Sc. in Life Sciences/Biochemistry/Computer Sciences with experience in crop/ population modeling.

2 (two positions – one each for Soil Science and Microbiology): M.Sc. Life Sciences specialization in Microbiology or working with micro organisms and or soil science.

Desirable Qualifications: a)Field experience in rice with knowledge in nitrogen metabolism/heat stress, b)Germplasm handling and maintenance & c)Experience in conducting experiments in field studies, CSIR/NET qualified candidates will be given preference.

Emoluments: Consolidated pay of `16,000/- p.m. plus HRA

II DBTs India-IRRI network project on “From QTL to Variety: Marker Assisted Breeding of Abiotic Stress Tolerant Rice Varieties with major QTLs for Drought, submergence and Salt tolerance”.

Duration: 1 year & extendable further

1. Research Associate (1 post)

Essential Qualifications:

PhD degree or MSc (Ag) in Genetics & Plant Breeding from a recognized University with three years research experience in molecular mapping of traits in field crops.

Desirable Qualifications: 3 years experience in molecular mapping of traits in rice and knowledge of computer operation.

Emoluments: Consolidated pay of Rs.22,000/- p.m. plus HRA

2. Senior Research Fellow (1 post)

Essential Qualifications (EQ): M.Sc.(Ag) in Genetics & Plant Breeding/Biochemistry/Plant Physiology from a recognized University with two years research experience as JRF/Technical Person or equivalent. Desirable Qualifications: 2 years experience in evaluation of rice germplasm/varieties for agronomic traits/drought tolerance/salt tolerance.

Emoluments: Consolidated pay of Rs.14,000/- p.m. plus HRA

III DBT project on “Characterization and use of EMS induced mutants of rice variety Nagina 22 for yield, drought tolerance and phosphorous use efficiency”:.Duration:1 year & extendable further.

1.Research Associate (1 post)
Essential Qualifications: Ph.D degree in Genetics/Plant Physiology/Plant Sciences from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualifications: At least one year experience of working with plant mutants/genetic mapping/molecular markers/field work/crop stress physiology and should have publications.

Emoluments: Consolidated pay of ` 24,000/- p.m. plus HRA

IV. DBT network project on “Identification of candidate genes for enhanced water use efficiency in rice through activation tagging” Duration: 1 year & further extendable

1. Junior Research Fellow (1 post)

Essential Qualifications:



Desirable Qualifications: 2-3 years research experience in genetic engineering of plants with specialization in rice tissue culture, genetic transformation and molecular biology techniques desirable.

Emoluments: Consolidated pay of Rs.16,000/- p.m. plus HRA for 1st & 2nd years and `18,000/-p.m. plus HRA for 3rd year onwards for candidates with PG degree with NET qualified or PG degree in Professional Course with GATE. Or
Consolidated pay of `12,000/-p.m. plus HRA for 1st & 2nd year and `14,000/-p.m. plus HRA for 3rd year onwards for PG degree candidates without NET/GATE. MSc degree in Plant Biotechnology/Plant Molecular biology/Plant Sciences/Plant Breeding & Genetics/Botany from a recognized University.

V NAIP project on “Development and Maintenance of Rice Knowledge management Portal (RKMP)”. Duration: 1 year

1. Senior Research Fellow (2 posts)

Essential Qualifications(EQ): Masters degree in Agriculture/M.Tech. or Masters Degree in Computer Applications (MCA) from a recognized University with 1-3 years of application software development experience.

Desirable: Ability to create, edits, upload, and share learning objects using tools like MS Office, Web 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 Tools, Drupal, Joomla, CMap knowledge on HTML/XML, RSS, Java Script, Demonstrated knowledge of all computer programming, Software packages to develop web material, SQL server, Dotnet and Php.

Emoluments: Consolidated pay of `16,000/-p.m. plus HRA

II DBT network project on “Identification of candidate genes for enhanced water use efficiency in rice through activation tagging”. Duration: 1 year & extendable further

Essential Qualifications: Bachelors degree in science from a recognized University with experience in rice fields.

Desirable Qualifications: Masters degree in science will be given preference

Emoluments: Consolidated pay of `8,000/- (fixed).

III Project entitled “Marker assisted gene pyramiding of resistance to blast and BLB in parental lines of hybrid”. Duration: 1 year & extendable further

Essential Qualifications: B.Sc.(Botany, Zoology or Chemistry) or Diploma in Agriculture

Desirable: Experience in field screening of rice diseases

V DBTs FGR P-II sub-project IVA: Duration: 1 year & extendable further

Essential Qualifications (EQ): M.Sc., in any branch of Life Sciences from a recognized University.

Desirable: Experience in rearing insects in greenhouse and handling laboratory equipments and skills in computer operation.

VI Contractual research project on Evaluation of newer insecticide molecule, XDE-208 against rice BPH – bioefficacy, toxicity and translocation studies”. Duration: 1 year & further extendable

1.Technical Help (2 posts)

Essential Qualifications: Post graduation in Entomology (M.Sc.(Ag)/M.Sc., Zoology with specialization in Entomology)

Desirable: Experience in Insect Toxicology work

Emoluments: Consolidated pay of Rs. 8,000/- (fixed).

Age: Below 30 years for Technical Help, below 35 years for men and 40 years for women for JRF & SRF and below 40 years for men and 45 years for women for RA as on 1.1.2011 (age relaxation up to 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates)

1. The above positions are purely temporary contractual and is to co-terminus with the project. There is no provision of re-employment after termination of the project.
2. No TA/DA will be paid to any candidate for attending the interview.

4. The decision of Project Director, DRR would be final and binding in all aspects.
