Scientific Officer – Plant Quarantine Laboratory

ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of Scientific Officer – Plant Quarantine Laboratory to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a nationally recruited position.

Responsibilities:
  • Import and export of germplasm and breeding materials of ICRISAT mandate crops following the necessary plant quarantine standards, as per Indian and International  Plant Quarantine Guidelines.
  • Conduct seed health test for the detection and diagnosis of seed-borne pathogens.
  • Field diagnosis of diseases and pests in post-entry quarantine screening of imported germplasm and pre-export seed inspections.
  • Maintain a germplasm/breeding material  import/export database.
Requirements:  The candidate should possess a M.Sc. in Plant Pathology with 1-2 years of relevant experience.  Extensive experience in seed health testing, pathogen diagnosis and identification is essential.

The candidate must be highly motivated and have excellent computer and communication skills in English (both written and spoken) and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

General:  The position is for three years, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute’s continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
