ABOUT THE COURSE
Animal Biotechnology Centre is organizing a National Training Programme on “Recent Techniques in Proteome Analysis” from March 03- March 23, 2011, which is being sponsored by National Agriculture Innovation Project (NAIP) under the NAIP sub-project “Analysis of Mammary Gland Transcriptome and Proteome during Lactation and Involution in Indigenous Cattle and Buffalo for Identification of Probable Mammary Biomarkers”. The aim of the training is to impart basic as well as advanced skills to work on “Gene and Protein Expression, Protein Purification and Proteomics” using various biotechnological tools.

Isolation of genes and proteins
Sequence and structure alignment methods
Primer designing
Molecular cloning and over expression of genes in heteologous systems
High resolution purification of proteins
Characterization of native and recombinant proteins
Protein staining methods: Coomassie blue, silver staining and CuCl2.
Western blotting
Concept & scope of Proteomics
High throughput proteomics
1-D and 2-D gel electrophoresis
Protein spots analysis
Protein identification by peptide fingerprinting & de novo sequencing:

ELIGIBILITY This in-house training program is targeted at enhancing capabilities of Scientists / Faculties / Research Associates / Senior Research Fellows working in ICAR Institutes, CAUs, SAUs and in various NAIP Sub-Projects, who are working or plan to start work in the areas of gene and protein expression and proteomics. We will consider applications from faculties of non-ICAR institutes subject to availability of seats.
