UGC-NRCBS, Madurai Kamaraj University invites applications from research scholars, post-docs, young faculty members and scientists of Indian Universities / Research Institutions for the Summer School on “Bioacoustics” to be held from March 14 to 26, 2011. The summer school will provide hands-on training on various methods of Audio and Video recording and Analysis in bats and insects with reference to ecology and behaviour.
Vocalizations by animals are used for species identification and phylogeny. The detailed instruction and application form can be downloaded from the UGC-NRCBS website www.nrcbsmku.org or from www.genomicsmku.org
Candidates should submit the filled in application form to Prof. Sripathi Kandula, Convener, UGC-NRCBS Summer School on Bioacoustics, School of Biological Sciences, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai – 625021 on or before 25th February, 2011.
Applications should be forwarded by their research supervisor / Head of the department or Head of the institution. Applications sent via E-mail will be considered. The duly forwarded hard copy should reach within a week.
The candidates will be selected based on the qualification and research interests. TA/DA will be provided to the selected participants as per the MK University regulations.
ELIGIBILITY : Applicants should be young faculty members with Ph.D. Degree, scientists or registered Ph.D. students working in research departments of Colleges or Universities / Research Institutes in India. Preference will be given to the candidates working or intend to work on animal bioacoustics in relation to their ecology, behavior and taxonomy.
