Molecular biology and genome-wide functional analysis have undoubtedly become a emerging and important discipline for academic research and industrial applications. To cope with growing need for expansion and serious research in these areas the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) has sanctioned grants for establishment of Biotechnology Hub in different parts of the country. It has become need of the hour to discuss important research areas in these fields and make an in-depth analysis of research potentials of our institutions. Karimganj College in Southern Assam which has been sanctioned Biotechnology Hub by DBT has come forward to provide a unique platform for interaction with some experts in these fields.
INVITATION : This enlightening workshop is designed to have an opportunity to become part of the large scan of research areas in biotechnology and bioinformatics. Please come and join us to share the latest knowledge in these fields and enjoy a great time. We are looking forward to have you with us in our quest for excellence
TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION: Participants are requested to make their own travel arrangements and accommodation. They have to meet the expenses towards TA/DA, boarding and lodging. The accommodation may be arranged in local hotels on payment of Rs 500 as advance.

IMPORTANT AREAS OF DISCUSSION: Emerging areas of Biotechnology, PCR and Primer designing, Molecular Markers and DNA Fingerprinting of Plants, Basic Bioinformatics, Sequence alignment, Herbal drug discovery and Pharmacoinformatics etc.
TARGET PARTICIPANTS : The workshop would be beneficial to: Students, Teaching faculty, Research Scholars and Scientists in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics who are working in Academic Institutions and Government Research Laboratories.
OBJECTIVES
1. To provide a venue for researchers to discuss the current areas of biotechnology and bioinformatics.
2. To promote collaborations among researchers and the related areas.
3. To make available to the students rich scientific presentations covering various aspects of biotechnology and bioinformatics and their applications in structural biology and functional genomics.
4. To provide opportunities to discuss research issues and challenges among the experts of different fields.
THE COLLEGE; Karimganj district is located at the southern most part of Assam. Karimganj town is the Head Quarter of Karimganj district. It is well connected by Railway and Road. Kumbhirgram, Silchar, the nearest Airport, is about 75 kms from Karimganj town. Karimganj college is situated at the heart of Karimganj town. It is only 5 minutes walk from Karimganj Railway Station and 2 minutes walk from Karimganj Bus station. The College is a three faculty college with Honours courses in 21 subjects and pass courses in 17 subjects. The college has been offering Biotechnology Honours programme since 2006 and recently has received grants to augment infrastructure in Biotechnology by establishing a DBT sponsored biotechnology hub
REGISTRATION FEE: The registration fee for the Workshop is applicable to all the participants. It includes admission to the technical sessions, lunch and tea .
