Women Scientists Scholarship Scheme – Training of Women Scientists in ‘IPR’ (for Indian Women Scientists)
CICS is currently involved in a project sponsored by the Patent Facilitating Cell, Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi on ‘Training of Women Scientists on Patents’. This scholarship scheme is launched by Department of Science and Technology for women having science qualifications for training in the area of intellectual property rights, especially in patent searches, understanding of patent specification and preparation of technology scan report. This programme is executed in Chennai, Delhi, Pune and Kharagpur by different partnering agencies. A total number of 20–25 candidates are trained per year from the Chennai region. The objective of this training programme is to empower talented and skilled women who have studied science, engineering, medicine and allied areas to contribute effectively in the advancement of science and technology in the country.
Candidates with Master’s/Doctorate in Physical sciences, chemical sciences, Life sciences or allied areas; or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree holder in Engineering, medicine, pharmaceutical sciences, veterinary sciences or allied areas are eligible for applying. Candidates with higher qualifications may also apply.
Advertisement calling for applications will appear in all leading newspapers and Employment News during October/November every year.
