Scientific Officer - Pigeonpea Breeding
ICRISAT invites applications from Indian nationalsfor the post of Scientific Officer – Pigeonpea Breedingto be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a nationally recruited position.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, designing and execution of field, greenhouse and laboratory experiments, crossing blocks and seed production under the supervision of the lead scientist.
- Management and coordination of day to day research activities.
- Supervision and training of technicians for data collection, and breeder seed production.
- Maintain and update electronic databases.
- Statistical analysis of experimental data.
- Assist the scientist in the preparation of technical reports.
- Any other responsibility that may be assigned by the scientist in furtherance of the cause of the institute.
Requirements:
- Post-Graduate in Plant Breeding or related discipline from a reputed university.
- Experience required: minimum of 1-2 years of practical work at a research institute, university or private sector company.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Driver’s license (desired).
- Ability to work under field conditions for extended hours.
- Proficiency in computer skills (MS Office) and statistical software.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both written and oral). Knowledge of local language (desired).
- Should be a good team player and adaptable to working in a multicultural team.
Period and Remuneration: The position is initially for 3 years, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute's continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
