Applications are invited in the prescribed form on or before 25/05/2011 for the following vacancies purely on temporary basis under Non-Institutional ad-hoc projects at National Institute of Virology, Gorakhpur Unit.

1 Research Scientist-II (Epidemiology)

Rs. 34,020/- (Non-Medical)

(1) MBBS Degree or First Class Masters Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or relevant biological
subjects OR Second class Masters Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or relevant biological discipline subjects with Ph.D.

(2) Four years research experience in the relevant areas.

(1)Doctorate Degree in Life Sciences or MD
(2) Additional Post Doctoral Research/Teaching experience in relevant subjects.

(3) Knowledge of Computer Applications.

Not exceeding 40 years

Research at Gorakhpur lab related to epidemiology of viral encephalitis.

Supervision of the diagnostic tests carried out at Unit.

Sound knowledge of the virology especially of clinical aspects of viral encephalitis. Plan and undertake sero surveys. Candidates should understand various concepts in molecular biology and immunology

02 Research Scientist-I (Epidemiology)

Rs. 28,350/- (Non-Medical)
MBBS/M.V.Sc Degree of First Class Masters Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or relevant biological subjects OR Second class Masters Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or relevant
biological discipline subjects with Ph.D.
(1) Doctorate Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or MD.
(2) Three year research/teaching experience in the relevant areas.
(3) Knowledge of computer applications
Not exceeding 35 years
Co-ordinating the epidemiological work for encephalitis knowledge of various epidemiological techniques and programs.
Expertise in using various softwares for epidemiological analysis.

03. Technical Officer –A (Serology and Molecular Biology) –2 Posts

Rs. 22,532/- (1) Three years Graduate Degree in Life Science with five years experience.
(2) Three years graduate degree in Life Science with two years DMLT from recognized Institute with 3 years experience in Life Sciences
Post graduation in Life Science with 3 years experience
Not exceeding 35 years

(1) Serology: Responsible for managing various serological tests. Sound knowledge of serological tests including handling of viruses and animal cell cultures would be required.

Persons would be responsible for Quality assurance of the serological tests.

(2) Molecular Biology: Coordinating the molecular biology work in endemic area of encephalitis. Sound knowledge molecular biology techniques like RTPCR, Virus culture etc.
3) Experience in handling animal viruses and animal tissue culture

04 Technical Assistant (Serology)

Rs.19,481/-

(1) Three years Graduate  Degree in Life Sciences with 2 years experience
(2) Three years Graduate degree in Life Science with two years DMLT.

Experience in handling various biochemical serological tests.

Knowledge of computer application

Below 30 years

Responsible for planning and carrying out  various serological tests. A sound knowledge of trouble shooting in serological tests including handling of viruses and animal cell cultures is required.
