Position: pK technician
JOB DESCRIPTION
Overall job purpose:-The post holder will assist in routine non-clinical pK / PD studies along with a range of specialist techniques in drug metabolism and transport across blood brain barrier / cerebrospinal fluid which have relevance to CNS pharmacokinetics. Experience and in-depth training in the areas of nonclinical neuropharmacokinetics, pharmaco-dynamics (PD) and/or drug metabolism / drug interaction is essential.

To co-ordinate with animal houses dosing of different compounds
To perform experiments for the research group using a range of specialist techniques in drug metabolism such as those involving preparation of tissues or sub-cellular fractions from human or laboratory species for the purpose of measuring metabolic and transporter mediated drug clearance.
To carry out all aspects of method development, maintenance and analysis by HPLC and LC-MS techniques as required by senior LC-MS technician.
To learn and assist with conduct of studies on measuring protein levels between blood and different tissues (including brain) using HPLC / LC-MS techniques.
To contribute to handling DMPK / in vitro studies involving radioisotopes and radio-detection.
To provide training and guidance to visiting researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students as appropriate.
To record and report the results of experiments as required, to perform data analysis and use modelling and simulations for purpose of interpreting data.
To present the outcome of research work in the form of posters or oral presentations in internal and external scientific meetings as well as contributing to preparing and publishing scholarly scientific papers.
Day to day running of the DMPK laboratory area ensuring an organised and safe working environment and associated good laboratory housekeeping (including preparation of SOP’s, maintaining documents related to chain of custody of compounds, maintenance of study files, equipment and ordering consumables).

Education
A good undergraduate degree in biology, pharmacology or chemistry, or other relevant discipline or equivalent.
Experience: 5-7 Years
Previous experience of carrying out and interpreting DMPK experiments.
Previous experience of working as a laboratory technician in an academic environment and/or pharmaceutical companies.
