3D Cell Culture & Tissue Engineering
September 1st- 3rd, 2011
Introduction Conventional 2D cell culture system provides a convenient & inexpensive platform for cell based analysis. However, there are a growing number of evidences which indicate that the 3D culture system exhibits a microenvironment which is closer to in vivo situation than the cells in 2D. Such three dimensional systems are the basis of Tissue Engineering research and are also attractive models to address a number of fundamental This workshop is intended to give expert knowledge in three dimensional cell culture to be applied in scaffolds & matrices, tissue engineering, cancer biology, stem cell biology, drug screening etc. questions in any area utilizing in vitro cellular models.

drug screening etc.
Course Features The objective of the course is to familiarize the participants with the techniques of animal cell culture in 2D and 3D environment. They will also learn to use tissue engineering strategies and the use of various commercially available scaffolds (from Collagen, PLA, Calcium Phosphate etc. to TM BD Matrigel) for this purpose.
This CEP-cum-workshop program will provide unique opportunity for the participants to spend their valuable time with the experts in the area from academics, clinical research and biotechnology industries.
Who can participate? This unique workshop is designed for the students, post docs, biomedical engineers, biomaterial-scientists, pharmaceutical scientists, clinicians, technical / project managers of biotechnology & pharmaceutical industries and others involved or interested in any but not limited to the following research areas:
