Cooperation between German and Indian researchers has a high potential in the future. To support new ideas in perspective partnerships and to keep in touch with existing strategic partners, Forschungszentrum Jülich is going to start a collaboration campaign in India and RRR Labs have got the mandate to coordinate this task.

Forschungszentrum Jülich (Research Center Juelich) is a public institution financed by the Federal Republic of Germany (90%) through the Ministry of Education & Research and the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia (10%) through its Ministry for Innovation, Science & Research.

Up to 5000 people work at one of Europe's largest interdisciplinary research centres towards comprehensive solutions for the great challenges facing society in the future in the three fields of health, energy and environment, and information technology, thus laying the foundation for future key technologies.

Juelich provides impetus and is engaged as a partner throughout the entire valueadding process of research from basic research up to actual innovations.

To support and enhance these activity and better connect Forschungszentrum Jülich with the scientific communities in India, RRR Labs invites applications for a
Liaison Officer (full-time) starting asap or on November 1, 2011.

Position responsibilities:

The Liaison Officer will fulfil the tasks agreed between RRR Labs and Forschungszentrum Jülich. General responsibilities include especially

¨ Supporting Jülich’s existing partnerships with Indian universities, institutes and
companies
¨ Establishing new strategic partnerships with Indian institutions
¨ Liaison with Jülich’s institutes and Indian authorities
¨ Promoting Jülich’s exchange and research programs, initially focussing on bioeconomy
¨ Representing Jülich at meetings, conferences and exhibitions
¨ Preparation and organization of events and preparing and accompanying
delegation visits
¨ Providing support to Jülich’s researchers in India, as well as to Indian students and scientists coming to Jülich

Profile and competences:

¨ Academic qualification, minimum Masters degree or equivalent degree in sciences, engineering or medicine; or similar qualification
¨ Work experience of at least three years, preferably in the area of science or science administration
¨ Knowledge of both the Indian & German science and higher education systems,
preferably through own study or research experience in Jülich or elsewhere in
Germany
¨ Capability of strategic thinking and writing
¨ Excellent presentation skills
¨ Transparency in working and a team-oriented work ethic
¨ Excellent communication skills as a bases for interaction with multidisciplinary
research teams in India and Germany
¨ High commitment and flexibility
¨ Ability to work independently and cooperatively with diverse organisation units of
the research center and the international community
¨ Proficiency in English and German. Basic knowledge of Hindi desirable
Employment conditions:
¨ This full-time position is offered initially for one year with the possibility of further
extension
¨ The salary level will be based on experience and in line with the salary regulations
of employees of similar qualification in India
¨ The candidate will get complete job training for several months at Forschungszentrum Jülich in order to intensify his/ her knowledge of the German
science system and Jülich’s research program.
¨ The place of work will be Navi Mumbai. After the opening of a German House of
Science and Innovation in New Delhi which is slated for late 2012 the place of work
might then be New Delhi.
¨ The position will require travel within India and to Germany as well as occasional evening and weekend hours
