WALK-IN-INTERVIEW

Applications are invited for a post of Research Associate (RA) under a sponsored project Biosphere across the Vendian-Cambrian and Permian-Triassic Periods and their response to the global late Proterozoic and late Palaeozoic glaciations tenable at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany, (BSIP) Lucknow. The project is sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology & Russian Federation of Basic Research (DST-RFBR) under the supervision of Dr. Mukund Sharma, Scientist-E and Principal Investigator of the Project.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND AGE LIMIT:

Research Associate:

Essential Qualifications: M. Sc. in Geology/Botany /relevant discipline with high academic attainments both at graduate and postgraduate levels. Three years research experience in appropriate discipline OR Ph. D. in appropriate discipline.

Desirable Qualifications: Experience in micropalaeontological/ palynological techniques and taxonomic procedures as evidenced by published records in refereed
journals.

Relevant Disciplines: The fields of Palaeobotany and allied disciplines including Precambrian Palaeobiology and or Micropalaeontology.

Age Limit: 32 years as on November 01, 2011. A relaxation of age-limit up to 3 years may be considered by the competent authority in the case of applicants who are suitably qualified and have research training/teaching experience in relevant discipline. In the case of applicants of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Classes, age relaxation up to 5 years may be allowed. For PH candidates, the age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India rules.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

1. The tenure of Research Associateship is two years. The Research Associate shall be entitled to a sum of Rs.22, 000/ + HRA as admissible to institute’s Research Associates.
2. Only the Indian citizens normally residing in India are eligible for Research
Associates.
3. Applicants, in response to this advertisement, appearing for interview on the date of
Walk in Interview shall be considered by the Selection Committee. The decision of the
Institute will be final and the Institute will not entertain any correspondence in this
respect.
4. The award of Associateship shall not imply any assurance or guarantee for subsequent
employment at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany, Lucknow.
5. Usual infrastructure facilities for research purpose will be provided by the Institute.
6. HRA and medical benefits may be allowed as per the Staff Rules of the Institute.
7. No Research Associate will be allowed to discontinue his/her scholarship without prior approval of the Institute.
8. Each Research Associate will have to sign an agreement along with the terms and conditions with the Institute for the award of Research Associateship to him/her before joining.
